Thanks, ThinkHard. As always. You're a true friend of Turkey.

If I ever have a daughter, I'll name her "ThinkHard."

One contribution:

One should distinguish Istanbul from rest of Turkey.

Other than terrorist attacks, which rarely happens in big cities of Turkey, Istanbul can be one of the safest places if you know where/what/who to avoid. Of course, I am referring to touristic parts.

BTW, if Turkey looks shady to someone who has been in Russia, we really should be worried.

I read something on Google .. about possible affair that SS had in Turkey with a man, who was being questioned...

Just a question: Did she or did she not have an affair in Turkey? .. Was it confirmed by now .. or was it found to be a lie?

It is not clear. There are media reports of an affair, including NY Daily news, who speaks to Taylans lawyer. The article references the affair but there are no direct quotes to the lawyer. That said, it does not say whether he denied it or whether he just would not comment. Other US media appears to be quoting Turkish press.

If preliminary DNA is to be believed, Taylan has been eliminated as a suspect. So it would lend credence to his story (if he says there was affair) bc why lie if it were not true and he is not murderer?

There are plenty of very upscale clubs in Istanbul actually. Some of the most well known in the world for upscale night clubs are in Istanbul.

And it is just my opinion that I doubt she accidentally came upon prostitution in Istanbul, though it exists, I doubt its something she would have just walked in on.

Do you have a lot of personal experience with Istanbul?

Prostitution is legal and regulated in Turkey, is it not? I am sure there are upscale brothel clubs in Istanbul that do not seem like a place where prostitution is taking place. They could be mistaken for a nice bar by someone not familiar with that kind of life.

IMO I think she did get somehow caught up with something/someone dark.

Sorry if it sounded like I offended the country of Turkey ... I surely didn't mean to do it.

On a lighter note ... If you ever have a son (or another son) .. you can name him "ThinkHard" as well, pretty sure :)

Don't worry Yashim, I know there is a big difference btw Istanbul and say Mardin...or way eastern Anatolia

Indeed, as of yesterday, everyone who they tested DNA on has been cleared, so I believe that means the host as well., 20 some people I believe

You'd think, but remember money and class do not always go hand in hand.

Money /= Class (True)

but also..

Class /= good sex

Money /= good sex

Money + class /= good sex

Being aware of what heightens your senses + knowing what you are doing = good sex

Class and money are completely seperate attributes from sex, they don't even relate to one another. I am a very classy guy, but when it comes to sex..I find the classier the girl, the naughtier and more risque, the more she is into it.

Then again, mundane repetitive activities that people do in most relationships, which are really just going through the motions, are really not my cup of tea.

Prostitution is legal but its still discrete. Which also makes her coming across it and getting in trouble for seeing it far less likely.

You would not just accidentally walk into a brothel though. They are not disguised as a regular bar. And they are way below the radar.

I'm have to disagree with your money = class assessment. I understand the rest of your post and I agree with the rest...

But money does not buy class. If it did we would have far classy famous people in Hollywood.

Hmmm no offence but talking about personal sexual preferences doesn't seem to really fit in a thread about a murdered woman. I know all threads tend to go a bit OT when there is a lack of news but...hmmm
Just my opinions of course.

It's a very classless thing to do, in my opinion.

ETA: I would think a man with class without at least rent a nice hotel room for the occasion.

I agree Meri - and if he were "from a good family" - especially Turkish - a hotel room - and a nice one at that. Which is what leads me to believe this was in some sleazy brothel bar that he may have frequented and was a client. Just IMO.

Ya.. US is far from perfect .. and very corrupt .. i AGREE ...

But i was talking about single attractive woman vs. travelling to foreign country (with possiibility, at the least, of those travel plans involving some sort of affair etc .. among regular travel pastime of course).

You d have agree US would be somewhat safer (for that particular reason) ...

I think it is highly relevant to the case at hand. Only because we are delving into the psychology of human interactions in several ways:

1. While meeting strangers
2. While meeting strangers abroad
3. How we might sexually interact with them
4. What risky types of sexual behavior we might engage with them

This is highly relevant to the fact that Taylan "supposedly" stated he had sex with Sarai in a bar.

The questions are:

1. Do we dispute the authenticity of the "news"
2. Do we think her behaviors suggest she would do this
3. If possible, was it just him or possibly another man as well

and MOST importanly brings us to..

4. If this behavior is true and convincing of an intimacy with a potential perp

This completely changes the dynamic of the type of suspect and interaction this suspect may have had with Sarai.

Highly relevant.

Only irrelevancy might be in how we tangent off into personal decisions of our own. The thing is, when we compare normative behaviors, we sometimes find that things we may consider "normal" or "abnormal" may in fact be normal to certain %'s of the population, in one country vs another, in gender roles, in specific situations etc. SO talking about what WE would do only helps work thru the potential psychology..only if we of course have some facts that may corroborate the potential behavior and theory.

Just my two cents for what they are worth

I think you read it too quick my friend, I actually had a /= between the Money /= Class thing, and only stated (True) to tell you I am in agreement with your statement. Everything else..was just to distinguish the sex/class money argument..which we also seem to agree with. ;-)

I have forgotten to complete my previous post.

Tourism income is crucial for Turkish economy. So, the government is doing (or should do) its best to ensure the safety of our guests, the tourists.

Any negligence that risks a tourist's safety should be seen as an exception.

I am not the only one... nurse :)

But not much to discuss (re: case) .. woman was found dead .. murdered ... in a foreign country .. where she went travelling .. and possibly (or possibly not) had an affair with someone there...

Hopefully Turkish LE can do their job and find the perp(s).... and successfullly prosecute those involved.

With a stranger perhaps, with your long term sig? Not necessarily. One of my ex's was into pushing boundaries, and this was one of her goals for us to do..I also recall she wanted to in an airport before we left for somewhere. She was just adventurous and had a high sex drive like me. It made it more interesting then always doing it on a bed. A bed is for sleeping btw..since when did it become the defacto place to have sex, because what, it's comfy? Rather boring if you ask me, but to each their own.

Don't you hate it when you have a typo and then it's quoted? LOL

But, a TOILET?? That's just plain gross.
