That's what I've wondered as well.

So what *is* missing?
- phone
- iPad
- jacket
- shoes...?
- anything else like credit cards/wallet? we know her DL was with her...

ETA - okay, I'm wondering if the jacket didn't come off in the struggle somewhere? And then someone saw it and took it? Same with the shoes, unless they're lying around somewhere. Other than that, it seems much more personal if the phone and iPad were taken b/c of what may have been on them. Or in a hurry to make it look like robbery (rings can be hard to remove sometimes - my wedding rings only come off with soap or lotion)

Sarai's bag is missing. I don't think her shoes were missing, because reports say that she had an "extra pair of shoes" with her.

Also, how long would it take Apple to located an iPad? It should have been turned on by now, I'd think!

Hello there everyone...been following this case and thread for days...glad I was finally given the ok to join the discussion!

I find this post absolutely fascinating! Perhaps this is just me...but I have been under the impression this whole time that SS and Taylan/Tarkan had established some sort of connection well before her visit but this post tells me that the exact opposite is true. SS is letting him know that she will be there "this week" and will be there for "3 weeks". And on her last day there, (if we're to believe the communication exchange between the two) it was SS who invited Taylan to meet her. Clearly she did not fear him.

When her A'dam bud states that he didn't like the people she was in contact with in Turkey, exactly who is he referring to? Has this ever been stated?

:welcome: Welcome to WS - thanks for joining us...

I thought there were previous exchanges between them online. His account has been deleted now from IG so I can't go back and see.

ETA -- found it:

His comment is now deleted b/c he has deleted his account or made it private. But you can see that she responds to him (@taylloo) 21 weeks ago (the photo was posted in September). Somewhere in an article, it says she was convinced to go to Turkey by a group of Turkish IG'ers. I wonder if he was one of those people.

If it was actually her seen on camera... because it could have been the killer, who, in an effort to throw everyone off, took her big cap, scarf and jacket and maybe even those extra shoes and walked around by those cameras near the beach. And if he had access to her Ipad and phone, he could also have sent some bogus texts....

That's a very interesting theory. Especially if everyone there knows about all of the surveillance cameras. The perp or maybe a female accomplice? Maybe one of the women being questioned?

ETA - by the way, I noticed you are new here also. Welcome!

Did Sarai ever bring a real camera with her? If not, does this seem strange to anyone else?

And has anyone heard if they received the gmail account password to investigate?

By the way, I've only heard they are waiting for Sarai's gmail account info, so the Milliyet article above (@Lavy) doesn't make sense - "camsab" on Jan. 28 - he arrived during the day on Jan. 28 (Turkey is 7 hours ahead, and the flight is a min. of 9.5 hours) - see there's light in the end of this video at the airport when he's interviewed: Family Of Missing American Tourist Arrives In Turkey - YouTube

:welcome5:

A huge welcome to you, also --- thanks for joining us.

Yes, I think it seems strange. I think she mentioned on IG that she does have a regular dSLR camera. I think she doesn't haul it around often b/c she talked also of how she used her phone to take pictures as well. Perhaps she wanted to travel light and also stand out as a tourist...?

What about her Skype account access and phone being recharged while she was missing? I know cell carriers have the ability to triangulate the relative location where cell phones are accessed

Photographers don't care about standing out as tourist with camera gear but I do see your point with her being a lone traveler.

This is interesting - I didn't realize that Turkey is a major thoroughfare for the drug trade between the Middle East/Asia, and Western Europe.

bbm

Illicit drugs: key transit route for Southwest Asian heroin to Western Europe and, to a lesser extent, the US - via air, land, and sea routes; major Turkish and other international trafficking organizations operate out of Istanbul;

laboratories to convert imported morphine base into heroin exist in remote regions of Turkey and near Istanbul;

In addition to all of the other reasons I've listed previously, another reason she may not have brought a large dSLR with her is that it's kind of unwieldy. Since she seemed to dig graffiti and decaying buildings, she may have had to climb on rocks, under or over fences, etc. I know from experience it's a LOT easier to do these things with your hands free and without the added weight and bulk of a dSLR.

As we've already covered: camera photography is a trendy "thing" and graffiti and urban decay are a trending subgenre of photography.

Her travel buddy Ammer's main camera for capturing street art and urban landscape is a Canon 600D, he mentions that he uses his iphone to capture 'quick' snaps. 90% of the photos he snapped of them during her visit was with his Canon 600D. Iphone photography is secondary to a main camera body for anyone claiming to be a photographer or studying photography. I understand this subculture but a person is not considered a photographer if his sole camera is a camera phone...as a photographer this is my personal view. To add to this there are many smaller point and shoot cameras with DSLR manual features such as a NEX5N....pocket size and almost equal quality to a DSLR. This is a touchy topic for a lot of photogs..sorry

I'm pretty sure that someone here said that taylloo changed his IG name to sarrhudd. Her response @taylloo is actually to sarrhudd. A'dam host said that sarrhudd was the last person to see her.

I'm getting lost here. I've seen IG posts between SS and this guy as: @tarkan, @taylan, @taylloo... and now @sarrhudd? :waitasec:

ETA - I can't find anything at all on 'sarrhudd'. Do you have a link?

BBM: I am pretty sure he was talking about the man she was renting a room from. Not sure if there are others.

Welcome!

Kev,
I am also a photographer. Would *I* consider it a good idea to bring just my phone? No. But I know plenty of hobbyists who call themselves photographers who only carry their phone. Personally, I carry the darn dSLR over and under the fences and balance out on things that would make my mother cringe. But she also seems to be a new hobbyist and may be saving up for a camera. Heck, I know some photogs that use nothing but Polaroids. We artists are a weird lot.

Yeah, I can't see any icons in their comments. They're showing up as weird symbols.

unless, coincidentally there is someone else by that name. What do you think?
