Same here.

I think the previous one was a direct quote from a LE official.

The only thing we know about this case that we actually don't know anything.

Right. Which means we really can NOT conclude that Taylan's DNA was not a match to the DNA found on SS either.

There is a new article.
Not much new. It is saying police thinks murderer killed SS at his place and took her to there to blame homeless.

I can't translate it now have to go. I've been procrastinating for long. Maybe Yashem or bet2173 can translate?

Ah ha my theory has made the paper....that means it must be true ! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

But his lawyer explicitly said "my client didn't not have sexual relationships with that girl."

OK, I see your point. In the US, that translates as he in fact did. :)

Hahaha

Think President Clinton and Monica Lewinski. :)

Maybe you are too young to know about it?

Pardon my ignorance. In order to communicate with her family in the US via Skype, would she need to have Wi-Fi?

The reason I am asking is because her family said repeatedly they were in touch every day.

Doesn't have to be wifi specifically- but an internet connection of some sort. Either 3/4G through a cellphone provider (unlikely in this case), a hard line connection to the internet or Wifi.

There was money (I think $400) and credit cards found in her room, but one would think she would have some cash also on her.

Not anything to do ith the case, but I was curious to know if American ATM cards work in Turkey.

Yes they do, and u can choose euros, liras, or dollars from them.

Ah, if only I were too young to remember. I was young when it happened- but definitely old enough to know what was going on! :blushing:

Did he? Sorry I might have missed. He keeps saying "duygusal iliski yok"?

The police has a list of 40 people who could be a possible suspect. According to the strongest scenario of the police that's exactly the intention of the murderer. The police thinks that Sarai is killed somewhere else.
The murderer has met Sarai around the Eminonu area where she was shooting photos. After that they went to a bar and to the murderer's house. He made her an unacceptable proposal. They started arguing, then fighting. He hit her with a hard substance and she died.
Then he took her to the Cankurtaran walls thinking that it's the best place for his disguise since a lot of junkies, homeless and immigrants live there. It was his intention to overreach the police since he knew all of those people mentioned above (the junkies etc) would have their DNA's on her and while the police will be busy finding out and investigating the 40 possible suspects, he would gain time and even watch the investigations in the walls from a distance. The blanket he covered over her is probably from a homeless guy again with the same intentions

Well, in the very first days, we were told that Taylan asked him "will you bring your wireless with you" And even in Turkish text he used the English word "wireless." when we say that in Turkey, we mean a wireless external modem. Taylan wouldn't refer to iPad as "wireless."

Yet, if you go into a Starbucks and ask do you have wireless, it means WLAN.

We just don't use wi-fi. Didn't use hi-fi back in those days either. I think it's because it sounds funny when pronounced phonetically.

Yashim was making a joke at our dear ex-President Clinton's expense.

I found something else...It is a report dated 6th of feb. I don't know how I missed this?

Titled : Homeless's are usual suspects

Saying LE asked all of the 22 people if they smoke, take alcohol and drink. If they smoke what brand of cigarettes they use.

There are parts from the guy's statements. example

İ. K. (30): I beg in the streets. I drink and smoke when I have money. I sleep in the walls. I saw her photo on tv.

So really, the lady who said she saw the man carrying a body near the wall could be telling the truth?! After the police deny she was moved? I'm beginning to think LE is telling stories hoping one will be true.

Was the unacceptable proposal something illegal or sexual in nature?

If they know she went to a bar, and then later to the suspect's house, and that the suspect made an unacceptable proposal- in that level of detail, then they know who killed her, right?

Great points. I believe it was ThinkHard who said you can fly round trip to Turkey this time of year for $393.00, and someone else (maybe the same person) said the Hostel wouldn't have cost more than $100-$200 total. In addition, there's spending money, food and the trip to Amsterdam and Munich to factor in. I think compared to some vacations, this one falls on the less expensive side of average, but for a family who is already on a tight budget, she'd have to save probably at least a thousand bucks in two months' time.

I also know she was a college student. I know it's not totally kosher, but I've known students who receive financial aid checks above and beyond the total cost of tuition. They put those checks to use on other things- vacations, other financial obligations, that sort of thing. Maybe she paid for part of the trip that way?

As for getting the time off from work, that would be another challenge. I work in Human Resources and can tell you that generally speaking, employees that are hourly and part-time are not give standard vacation time. That doesn't mean they can't take a day off- it just means that any time taken off work would be taken without pay. Being a new employee, I'm surprised she was able to convince her boss to give her the time off, but sometimes employees will negotiate that sort of thing prior to their start date. In other words, they'll take the job offer, but will say, "I have a trip planned to Turkey in January. I'll be gone three weeks, is that ok?"

OR- maybe she got this job for this specific reason, and was putting her entire paycheck aside for the trip. If she did it that way, she could probably save up enough money within 2-3 months, I'd imagine.

But, if the person who killed her and the person who stole her stuff were different people, the scavenger may have left the driver's license with her body so she could be identified.

I'm pretty sure (IMO) that the forensics team and professionals who profile/investigate criminals/murders have a good if not positive idea of the type of person (if not even the one) who murdered this woman based on the evidence at the crime scene and the way in which she was killed - perhaps the mafia one way - druggies another - rejected lover another way - homeless that way - random robbery another - hate crime ...political crime...religious crime...problem is - nothing is being released to the public except a lot of random misinformation.

I wonder why she didn't carry an ATM card, she would not have needed her husband to send her money.

Wait... Is Taylan Bill Clinton? :rocker:

edited to add: Doh, looks like I was late to the party with the Clinton jokes.

Yes, especially after they found out that the DNA's dont match

I don't think bathroom sex is true. His lawyer explicitly said the didn't do anything of that sort. And only met twice in a coffee shop.

Who believes liers? - opps - I mean lawyers...

I believe his popularity is probably higher than that of our current and previous presidents combined. He definitely gives that vibe of "cool guy".
