As to some of those stats .. - at the moment, anyhow, i don't give a flying kite about them

Sorry, man, if you don't want to believe the official murder statistics show that you are over EIGHT TIMES as likely to be murdered in NYC as in Istanbul, then you have a problem accepting basic facts.

You can throw out all the emoticons you want. It doesn't change the basic facts. Nor does it give an "opinion" that is opposed to reality any weight.

Right, which is why he took her there of course. He must have known it and was a regular or not - just IMO.
I doubt a registered brothel would appreciate a client bringing in a girl that he didn't have to pay for, I'm pretty sure that would be NOT be their ideal business model.

No I went there to live for a year just to experience the world, and I went on my own.

So I was much more then just a visitor.
OK .. I got it! :blushing:

in an case .. as i was saying .. Thanks G*d, NOT everyone out there gets raped, murdered etc.... or this world would be a TERRIBLE place to exist ...

Occasionally, however chit happens .. all any of us can do .. is BE VERY CAUTIOUS of our surroundings ... regardless where we are!

we gotto try and try hard NOT to end up in BAD situations..... :twocents:

But didn't that Person who saw her near the Topkapi Palace with card carrying guide see her before the 20th? So she could have visited some of the sites during her stay. I was surprised she didn't go anywhere else in Turkey- even Ephesus for a day. The airfare is incredibly cheap! But maybe she was focused on Istanbul and didn't know much about the country.

Yes, was that confirmed??? Aw this uncertainty is killing me. She probably focused on Istanbul, there are a lot to do.

I understand what your saying but even lonely planet would have Hagia Sophia mention. I mean the building has been standing since 400 something AD.

I was more commenting on the fact she herself said she was a very uninformed tourist.....which doesn't jibe at least for me with her families claims of extensive research.

Yeah, the husband said she researched extensively. Not knowing about Aya Sofia is like going to London and not knowing Big Ben. Every web page and tour book has it on the cover.

A dude who was more than happy to get down with the lady. Trust.

No guy on god's green earth is gonna get dressed up in a tiger suit for "his tigress" if he's not angling for some action.

No way, no how. (Unless he's gay of course).

ToutCa, I respectfully disagree. Hipsters do crazy things. As do furries. As do artists.

Oh, and I don't know a single gay man who would be caught dead in a tiger suit. And I know a lot of gay men. ;)

You keep those stats .. and i said what i said .. and not going to take it back!

Exactly, it really makes me wonder what she did while she was there.
Just like her friend saying she backed out at last minute...

This would be so nice to know to get a better sense of what the rhythms of her travel were. We don't have much of a picture. Even the Turkish cops said she spent her money in regular tourist places like cafes and shops. Wow, so helpful and specific!!!!

And 99 out of 100 tourists to London would think that Big Ben is a clock tower.

It's a bell.

Earlier today somebody (I'm so sorry, I don't remember the nick) suggested she might have another email address. Makes sense to me and I felt dumb for not thinking about that before. Almost everyone has more than 1 email address these days (you can disagree).

IF
she was talking to any of the IGmers in a "more than friends" way she probably wouldn't have done it in the email that her husband has the password for.

(Or maybe she didn't know that her husband knows her password?)

Still a possibility.

Great, crime statistics are meaningless to you. Ignore all facts and assert a fantasy-world instead of contending with reality. That won't help us understand what happened to SS. Or understand anything in the real world we live in.

I'm reading all of this sex talk and thinking about Sarai and Tarkan. I do believe they had sex - I believe his claims. If he knew he was innocent, he really had no reason to divulge that information other than LE probably asked him the nature of their relationship. And he told the truth, IMO.

My guess on their relationship: they had been somewhat 'flirting' online, commenting on pictures, etc. Who knows what their private e-mails and iMessages and Facetime (and the like) said. I'm going out on a limb and saying that the sexual pressure/interest from both sides was rising. By the time she got there, they were willing to have sex anywhere at that point. But then I think after the initial sexual encounter (or two or three), the novelty wore off, and she didn't find him as interesting. She had gotten it out of her system. The same may be true for him, but I think *she* was the one taking this huge trip, trying to branch out, 'take a break', feeling that '7-year-itch', etc. I don't think their tryst was as much of a life-changing experience for Tarkan as for Sarai, considering he is reportedly a single male and she had been married to a guy she had been with since they were teens. I believe I read that she will be buried on the 15th anniversary of her husband's marriage proposal to her. They've been together awhile. So I believe Tarkan's lawyer when he says there was no emotional investment in the relationship - probably not from either side but especially not Tarkan. I do not think that makes him a jerk. It's just probably his lifestyle as a bachelor. In other words, I don't think he had enough feelings to have a reason to murder Sarai. No anger, no rage.

I'm backing off of Tarkan. I believe whoever murdered Sarai was someone she was acquainted with, either online before arriving or someone she had met previously while there - or a contact of one of those acquaintances. It could be anyone from a fellow IG'er, to the landlord, to the carpet guy.

As for Ammar, he seems like a sweet guy. He actually wore a tiger outfit to the airport to meet her, his 'tigress'. I'm on the fence about their relationship being platonic or not. I think the underlying reason for Sarai's trip was to 'find' herself, to spread her wings, to experience a part of life that she never got to experience and felt may be slipping away from her as she aged further into her 30s.

I think photography may have been a part of her reason but I think it was more of a cover-up to her family and maybe even her friends.

Whew. Hope this makes sense.

Where did he or she herself refer Sarai referred to as a "tigress"? Loaded term.

First rule of online romances, always have a secret email address. Heck, she might even have a secret facebook profile or instagram account. I know plenty of people who do.

...but they know it exists. "Which one is hagia sophia" sounds a little like I've never heard that before. :waitasec:

Apologies if this was covered before...I was out preparing for this snowstorm we're getting :)

The only thing that makes sense to me regarding Sarai's missing clothes is that the perp wanted to remove any evidence that could contain DNA, fingerprints, etc. that's why only her shell was taken, in other words, anything the perp would have touched.

And this fact also removes the druggie attack as possibility. A druggie would not remove her clothes and leave behind the jewelry. Even in a possible rape, the druggie would not take off her shoes. Why would he have to?? He just needs to pull down her pants not take them off.

Somebody that she casually met during her time there could have picked her up in a car during her walk. She was a very trusting person. She would have not given it a second thought to jump in a car with someone who she previously shared a brief exchange with. Perhaps even someone who saw her in the bar the night she had the encounter with Tarkan.

Anyway, that's what I got thus far...

The LE claim they saw her cross the road, perhaps she crossed the road to get in a car?

Yeah, the husband said she researched extensively. Not knowing about Aya Sofia is like going to London and not knowing Big Ben. Every web page and tour book has it on the cover.

But my impression was that she "researched" about how to travel there safely.

Not about the historical and cultural life of the city.

If she traveled there to take cool photos, and possibly pursue light flirtations, that can help us understand the mindspace she was in, and may help us grasp her frame of mind on the 21st.

Maybe it all seemed like such a fairy-tale stage set to her that she really had a hard time grasping danger until it was too late?

Or maybe not. It's at least possible?

Man, looks like I'm losing people left and right from the "Taylan's guilty" team. Now you too, Belimom?! Say it ain't so!

I just can't give him a pass yet. I can't. Too many coincidences involving that cat. I'm not ready to let him go.

My first thought after reading this was 'Now there's a CAT involved?!?'... :floorlaugh:
