Not sure if these photos of TK have been posted? if so my apologies. He's not as charming looking as the image the media are using. Is this the same guy? The link below says it's him.

Yes, I've seen a photo of him before like these - the studio professional one posted in some news stories is way more flattering - but he looks like a middle aged guy, kind of cool and artistic -

Don't hit me, CMac2, but, even if SS was still alive when hubby arrived, there is no way Turkish LE let him out of their sight for even a split second.

He would have had agents on top of agents guarding him. With agents, Yashim, more agents, and secret police watching them.

There's no way he was let out of their sight. It would have been a courtesy offered for his protection, of course.

Definitely. :banghead:

Thank you. Were any of these in Turkey/A'dam? Besides the one Ammer took? I see the big ring on her right index finger here and I can't see one on her left ring finger. I small band could be there. It doesn't look like it to me but maybe we just can't see it.

The background looks like NYC to me, unfortunately.

How do we know she wasn't just hit by a car, or even a truck, that could have been higher and struck her head?

Hey, if this person was worried about vehicular homicide, I could see them wanting to move the body and take off without reporting it.

If it being in the middle of or early in the afternoon is an issue because this is likely to have been seen, maybe they put the body in their car/truck asap after realizing she was dead/dying and then brought it back there after. Where else would they put it? If it was put somewhere else, might be likely traced to them. The time of day and the not being seen doing any of this, does seem unlikely, even though someone said the traffic would be low at this time of day, but I doubt it would be so low as to not be seen at all.

Anyways, I wondered also about this theory, because of the single blow to head that killed her. The other brusing to head, and scratches on wrists, other bruises elsewhere, could all be consistent with a car striking a body, and being dragged. Scratches on HER wrists? How does that happen in a struggle. Seems more likely from dragging the body, either on the ground/rocks, or on pavement i.e. car.

I feel the probability of the above is low, but it is still possible. Would also explain the missing clothes, as they might be evidence of a car accident, i.e. road burn from being dragged.

---------------

Switching the theory, I still think it is more likely she was ambushed where she was, and dragged near the rocks, and robbed of valuables. Jeans, leather jacket, and electronics are infinitely more valuable than costume jewelry.

Aha. I think the ring is made out of what is called "nu gold" or "red brass."
It's 85% copper, 15% zinc.

(That was going to bug me.) And the ring she has in the clear picture IS the same as in the surveillance picture of her checking her phone.

Belimom... any chance you see a ring here?

photo from 29 Dec Brooklyn Bridge (again, same bag)

I'm sure.

They had the Americans and the press of the world all over them.

There was no way they were going to let anything happen to that guy. From their perspective, for all they knew, the people who "disappeared" SS were coming for him next.

They had him surrounded by security every second. They're not stupid.

Hubby was not the killer.

Are we sure that's when cops were contacted?

The feeling I got was that since her original flight back was on the 25th, some people (maybe even LE itself) were hesitant to go pedal to the metal on her disappearance until after then. Just a feeling.

I am sure it was in the media but can it be trusted to be correct? Let me look for the link.

I don't think her trip was about smuggling
Maybe my estimation of the Turkish Police and FBI and Interpol are too high, (yep- based on movies), but I definitely think they (especially the LE) would know pretty quickly if she was a smuggler and I’m guessing they would have gotten enough evidence on Taylan by now if he was guilty. We will have to wait and see, I guess, as media reports keep changing, and I imagine there is a lot of misinformation out there.

Millions of tourists go to Istanbul every year and have a great time and are treated well, same for Turkish travelers to New York City.

Istanbul is a cosmopolitan city in a land with deep religious roots, but some Americans are influenced by erroneous images, ie "Hostel movie", Locked up Abroad" "Midnight Express" and of course, terrorism, and those ignorant "third world" comments. And some Turkish people see a lone American woman as 'easy' or 'loose', not respectable. It's unfortunate, really.

Her family and friends keep saying that Sarai CHOSE Istanbul. Did her homework. Loved what she saw. I think it speaks volumes about her and her choices.

I made mention earlier about phones needing to be registered in Turkey but delal has given a clear explanation in post no 486. The electronics would have no monetary value there unless they could persuade a recently arrived tourist with a passport and visa to waste half a day accompanying them to register the items.

Interesting. It's also reported SS had a bad bruise on her hip. The hip bone is approx bumper height for a short person.

I agree. I don't think he has it in him, IMO.

Could someone deliberately hit her w a car?

If it were late a night I would buy that, but how could anyone have hit her in the middle of the day? Without anyone seeing? And then get our of car and move body?

She also still could have been alive

It seems like a car incident would have been a big commotion in the street. Also would have been noisy

If Taylan/Tarkan is unemployed, I wonder if he was trying to find ways to make some money.

I think that would have come out early on by forensics investigation - the FBI would not be involved, and Taylan would not have been detained nor the 20 or so others whose DNA samples were taken.

No, they could just use JailBreak (sp?); that's what people use in Turkey when they don't want to register electronics, and it's illegal...but that's what they use with "hot" goods, too.

Is this the guy who said he'd commented on her photos but never met her? Why is he involved at all? Daily Mail first said he was Taylan and then switched the picture with the new guy (the HOT guy! lol)

Yes, the second theory I think better - but stashing her in a homeless person's "home" is odd - there was a blanket in there -there are actually chickens running around the area- so persons live there. I wonder how long she was there - I bet she was killed somewhere else and brought there - makes sense - of course the forensics team and LE know so much more than we do!

I'm not a partisan of the drug mule theory, just exploring possibilities here.

Here is how a drug-running gang operating out of Istanbul was described:

It's an underground business; it is ruthless, there's a lot of bloodshed that happens. They are expendable and when you're walking along [with] the drug syndicates somebody is escorting you. If you back out, your family is under threat... they usually know where your family lives. So, the people really just go along and try to get through the ordeal and get back home.

It's from an article about a man who got blackmailed into serving as a courier, tried ineptly to get out and set up the drug gang with LE, and in the process disappeared in Istanbul in Nov. 2011 never to be heard from again...
