There's something else that strikes me as odd. If the woman did have sex with Takar and she was cheating on hubby, why would the husband and brother immediately fly over there to help find her?

I mean, this indicates to me that he didn't think she ran off with her lover but that he knew immediately that it was very serious. And both of them went, not just one.

So odd.

i'm sure he didn't really think that she was dead. maybe he thought that he would really find her and that he needed to go there and talk to her. bringing the brother isn't sooo odd, if they did find her it's her brother and he could talk some good sense into her.

They didn't go immediately though. They waited 7 days!

I'm not sure her husband knew they had (possibly) had sex until after he arrived. Even so, I don't find it odd. She was obviously missing and in trouble, and I'm sure his love for her didn't stop, even when he heard all of the reports of the sex, etc. As a matter of fact, he had said that he was staying away from the news b/c it was just too much to take in right now and someone said that he may have been referring to reports about her and Tarken.

I don't believe he was the one wanting a break from the marriage, FWIW.

I think this is absolutely to be expected. I can't imagine why you would sit at home waiting for a phone call if your wife was missing in a foreign country, even if you were worried about her having a lover. I don't find it odd.

I find it tearing at my heart that he and her family have to leave the children (does he even have a passport?) and fly across the world at great expense to a strange place thinking his wife might have run away, or been abducted, or hurt, or dead. I just find it a task of immense weight and sadness.

sorry, this is a bit off topic, but is it me or does ammer or whatever his name is have an air of her husband about him? okay, they didn't hook up, but they look so similar, it's weird.

And there is not a single picture that her husband and Ammer appear in the same frame!

We're so proud of our French heritage in tomorrow we will be celebrating Mardi Gras with parades, king cake, and great food/drink.

and the press is really slopping it up with dirtiness. the whole sleeping with tarkan thing is so unnecessary if they aren't looking at him as a suspect. she slept with someone else, who cares. who killed her?! why do they have to make her out to be some derelict? i still don't believe she was doing anything criminal. i wish the press would stop with trying make her look like a dark person.

Yes, they waited until after she missed the originally scheduled departure and then I think it must have taken a couple of days to get the passports, the tickets, etc.

I believe her original return was on Friday, Jan 25, so that might have arrived on Saturday. Get organized on Sunday. Apply for emergency passport on Monday, Jan 28. Fly out next day Tuesday, Jan 29.

I don't think anyone was dragging their heels about this. Probably fevently praying she'd show up.

How do we know it was from the US?

Because the postman said so if the reports are to be believed. I think he said it was "documents".

I would think maybe you would only mail something that was not replaceable in Turkey. Maybe medication? Maybe not medication she needed to take evey day but maybe medication she preferred to take? They do not have the same brands overseas and sometimes what you get OTC here is by Dr in another country.

Remember too she and her family were inexperienced w overseas. Maybe they underestimated length of time it would take to get there.

Maybe she mentioned, hey I cannot get X medicine over here, and her mom, wanting to be nice, sent it..

These are all good points, what I was trying to convey is that if she were involved in something illegal that he knew about, he wouldn't have gone over there and taken her brother, so it is obvious that she was innocent in that regard. This wasn't a drug deal from the US as some have said.

But if she'd been corresponding with other IGers why didn't he find their names? Why pick on Taylan/Tarkan to send a message to?

Because he saw her last gmail message regarding meeting him on the bridge, I believe...

Oh, I see this one coming....

Ammer is really Steven Sierra who Sarai meets in Amsterdam to deliver "the goods" and flies back with "the goods" to the US to reappear in his disguise as reliable bus driver.

  • #1,117
Guys, quick question do we know for certain how SS traveled FROM Amsterdam to Munich > Munich back to Istanbul? It would be impossible for me to search the answer here!

That really bugs me, too. Another aberrant fact.

I once had a camera lens delivered to me overseas (Nicaragua) when I had foolishly neglected to pick it up from the US store and I had left without a lens of any sort for my SLR body. The country did not have the type of SLR camera I had and I really wanted to use this good camera.

It is really expensive to do so.

The only thing I can envision would be a charger for an important piece of electronics. She did have her phone camera but had deliberately left her SLR at home, by reports.

Again, any package with declared value over 75 euros or big enough to arouse suspicion of valuable items will not make it past Turkish customs. They'll instead send a notice to your address instead to tell you to stop by for a customs inspection of the package to determine whether the item is really below the value of 75 euros and thus exempt from import tax or not.

Talk about over-complicating and not thinking of the obvious!!!
