Another interesting tidbit from the same article. Taylan K lawyer's reply to the reporter during his press statement:

"When Taylan K's attorney was asked about Taylan K's reported claims before that they had sex in a bar bathroom before, he stated that his client and Sarai Sierra did not have an emotional bond or relationship."

Operative word here is emotional. This was probably missed by my fellow sleuthers as most aren't native Turkish speakers, and web translation made them think that attorney suddenly denied the sex in the bathroom story.

He didn't. He carefully got around the question. A person doesn't need to have an emotional bond or a relationship with another person to have sex.

Touché.

The article is here.

It was discussed a while back, sounds like regular "lawyer speak" to me, I guess it is the same in all countries, lol. I do not see a denial about sex.

Btw We did not miss the no emotional connection distinction at all. We spoke of this at great length in previous threads.

OK, Think Hard, but a working-class guy from Staten Island who has connections in Turkey? Even through his church, that seems pretty unlikely to me.

I met a woman last week (potential client) whose family is from Turkey, and my great grandmother was from Turkey. My father was born in Staten
Island and it was his grandmother who was from Turkey. I don't think it's that unlikely.

Correct, all the photos online belong to @taylloo, real name Taylan K. He is the one who claimed to have sex in the bathroom with SS.

The article makes it very clear.

Crystal clear. Thank you! ;)

It just doesn't seem that implausible to me. I'm not Turkish I know plenty of people who live in turkey. I'm not English, French, Australian but I also know lots of people who live in those places.

I'm not saying Steven knew someone directly but in a city like new York, I think it's highly likely that when news spread, someone he knew perhaps even friend of a friend of a friend knew people in turkey that offered to
Put them up.

Turkish people are very welcoming. This case hit national attention. New York has people
From all over, it wouldn't be too hard for him
To find a connection to Istanbul.

This is not true
Some photos belong to @taylloo

And some belong to @tarkan1971

Google image both handles and you will see this.

I do not think these are the same person.

The articles talk about @taylloo as taylan k

Not @tarkan1971 as tarkan

Will look into it.

Aye, I think I missed it, it's hard to keep track of several previous threads. :)

I'm thinking it was a crime of opportunity.
Someone that hasn't been named might have been observing her for awhile, and either gained her trust and induced her to go somewhere, or surprised her and then set upon her, got rejected and bugged out..... came to his senses and set everything in motion to make it seem like someone else and something it wasn't.

Turkish LE says they only gave out 5% of the information, so the case could go any which way with any number of suspects, i guess... but I dunno....

I agree with other posters who said it feels staged.

Just my opinion
This is very close to my assessment. l honestly think she was stalked, possibly followed for several days by someone. Travelers know that being followed is a peril, but not much of a problem for those in pairs or groups. Unfortunately, to anyone who might have been watching, SS proved over and over again that she was alone. Someone thought they had proof she was available because she wasnt ever seen with any companion regularly.

Although I'm less inclined to believe the drug angle without proof, we all know mules exist. However, I think there's more evidence that SS was a loner with a keen interest in strangers (which ultimately led to her demise) than there is of her doing anything illegal.

Just know that it is being stated he said this and not even with a direct quote, nor did his lawyer entertain an answer to this question. With all the misprinted facts such as dates and names..etc, and depending on the newspaper source..i.e if they have a history of misreprsenting facts I take that with a grain of salt. This is not a video or a recorded conversation. Unless this fact came from the LE, it is very irrelevant to me and speculation. So I assume if he cares enough, his lawyer will sue the paper if they made this fact up, so it is really none of my business.

I was able to fully identify @tarkan1971 by name, surname, name of the institution he works for and even date of birth. However, since no article publicly mentions it, I will not be posting the details here.

I do not think he had such trustworthy connections prior to the crime to hire someone to kill his wife

But I think once this crime hit the news, the Turkish American community here in NYC might either have reached out to him OR some acquaintance reached out to them. All it took was 1 person hearing it on the news and making contact w someone in turkey. Maybe it was even from their church. Maybe the pastor contacted a pastor from a Turkish church and asked. It seems like their church has been giving them alot of assistance.

I am sure too that some hotel in Istanbul might have offered assistance, I recall holiday inn giving natalie holloway family a room in Aruba and Marriot gave room to that family w Brazil custody case. I bet if you reached out to one of the American chains they would give free or reduced room. Turkish chains maybe too, but Americans would bc they want publicity in US.

It is unclear to me how he is even relevant to the case. How did his name get brought into this? Was it just his email handle created confusion that he was Taylan?

Alright, when @tarkan1971, which was reported in Hürriyet article as Tarkan A. is searched through Google images, the first three or four photo results you run into are not Taylan K. I can confirm that. Indeed, they belong to the person identified in Hürriyet article as Tarkan A.

As many playas there are on our happy planet, I think ppl the world over understand that. Heck, what was that a U.S. president said about "that woman, Ms. Lewinsky".

He was found to have commented on one of SS pictures before on IG, wishing her good luck. So, LE questioned him. He says they never met face to face and tells that just because of a single comment, he feels he has gotten into trouble.

He is not Taylan K. They're different individuals.

Ok. Just so we're totally clear, TaRKan just commented on a photo, TaYLan was who she met and Takar was someone upthread making a typo, right?
