Facebook has activated its safety check featurein the wake of the explosions in Instanbul.
The tool lets users who are at or near the site of a natural disaster or terrorist attack mark themselves and others as safe, as well as check if any of their friends have been affected.
Facebook’s Disaster Response page posted a status in relation to the blasts at Ataturk airport:
On Tuesday, June 28 at 11:35pm local time in Turkey, we activated Safety Check after the explosions that took place in Istanbul. Our hearts go out to everyone touched by these tragic events.”
Safety Check is a simple and easy way to say you’re safe and check on others after a crisis or disaster. We hope the people in the area find the tool a helpful way to let friends and family know they are okay.
yesterdays warning
pretty darn specific IMO!

According to Richard Engel on MSNBC, 2 explosions were outside and the third guy got into the airport because of hole or broken glass.
He reported a few weeks ago that he had been told by people he talks to that ISIS was sending up to 30 of its people into Turkey during Ramadan. - with Rachel on MSNBC

ISIS has not claimed credit for this nor prior attacks in Turkey. - callimachi ny times foreign corres. speaking with Rachel.

I wonder if ISIS claiming, not claiming, or waiting to claim attacks is just another way they attempt to mess with our heads. It's almost passive-aggressive. Will they or won't they? Was it them? If not, then who?
It's been speculated that ISIS generally doesn't claim their attacks in Turkey, because they depend on their turning a blind eye to the fact that a majority of ISIS recruits enter Syria through Turkey and leave Syria for other parts of the world VIA Turkish airports, etc. Seems like they really blew it this time, though, by attacking Attaturk Airport........JMO just speculation.
I think you're correct this was stated as most likely the case on Fox News last night. Turkey needs to get tough on ISIS and cannot benefit from oil etc from them they can't profit from the deaths of their own people and tourists. It's interesting there are now press bans and social media has been limited in Turkey are the people there being told the truth about what is happening to their own country?
I'm just an observer, so all I know is that this ISIS crisis is far more complicated than my pea brain can understand. Turkey is a NATO country, and the only primarily Muslim one. Turkey hates Assad, but they also hate the PKK (Kurdish separatists, deemed terrorists) who are also , at least in northern Syria, Buddies of the USA in trying to defeat ISIS. Meanwhile, Russia is a buddy of Assad, but is blasting away at ISIS to assist Assad. Just about everyone hates Assad AND ISIS, but Assad and ISIS are enemies. It's a web of misery. That's my third grade take on it!!!!!LOL......JMO...................sickeningly, there are innocent civilians surrounded by the death and destruction. It is SO VERY NAIVE to think that "we" can just wipe them off the map. This is a global crisis, and I think the end is not in sight.
No, because they will continue mutating and changing their game until they are out of options, and at this point it seems they are at least one step ahead of us. I mean, even when they aren't ahead of us - we know they send suicide bombers to airports, for instance - they're still successful. We can't kill every single ISIS member and wannabe terrorist.
