Anheuser-Busch opts to STOP selling Travis Scott's Cacti hard seltzer — Daily Mail

“Rapper Travis Scott's vanity hard seltzer brand, Cacti, will be yanked from shelves after Anheuser-Busch said it will no longer sell the product in the wake of the Astroworld scandal.

'After careful evaluation, we have decided to stop all production and brand development of CACTI Agave Spiked Seltzer,' Anheuser-Busch said in a statement. 'We believe brand fans will understand and respect this decision.'

A spokesperson for Scott said cancelling the alcohol-infused drink was the rapper's idea so that he can focus on more important matters after 10 people were killed during a stampede at his Astroworld concert in Houston on November 5.

'Travis was clear in his interview that he is not focused on business right now and his priority is helping his community and fans heal. CACTI asked AB InBev to inform their wholesalers there will not be product at this time,' his spokesperson told TMZ.”

Is Travis Scott Cancelled? Nike, Coachella, Other Deals In Doubt

I wonder who is canceling whom? So many Travis Scott concerts, and brands have been canceled after "Astroworld", TS has stated that "he" canceled the concerts and business brands...I am not so sure. After all, "W" was scrambling to cancel its cover with Travis Scott after Astroworld.

More than half of victims' families declined Travis Scott's offer to pay for funeral costs - CNN
I can see how people would find Travis Scott's offer to pay for funeral costs to be offensive. Is there a "cap" on the cost?
Would the family have to sign a waiver?
Waiving rights to any further monetary damages?
It seemed like a tacky offer to me. Perhaps TS thought it was a generous idea.
@mickey2942
Iirc, article* suggests the offer was made to reimburse families for funeral expenses incurred. Unlikely imo that any funeral expenses would be so high as to prevent TS from being financially able to reimburse families.
Note: cnn.com did not quote surviving family members but their atty's, I think 4 or 5 of them. One family's atty said, the offer was sent by TS's atty, not by TS.

Your question about requiring fam. to sign to waive rights to further $$$ ?
Yes, regardless of $ amt offered, imo, absolutely, positively yes, families would be required to sign a waiver, as you anticipated.

Before Concert, Police Chief Met w TS.
From cnn. Nov 9 story* I didn't see before.
"Before rapper Travis Scott took the stage Friday night at his sold-out Astroworld Festival, Houston's police chief had a "brief and respectful" meeting with him to discuss safety concerns.

"Chief Troy Finner said** ...."I asked Travis Scott and his team to work with HPD for all events over the weekend and to be mindful of his team's social media messaging on any unscheduled events.""

Good old fashioned spin.

I bet there's a signed agreement along the lines of "Company blah blah agrees to spin this loss in favor of TS in return TS agrees to waive any civil action against us".

Travis Scott has been removed from the Coachella 2022 lineup.

Now it's getting real for him.

Good!

Given that this was his 3rd - and deadliest- incident of ignoring unsafe conditions at his shows, I suspect event organizers and cities that host them are facing highly increased insurance premiums for any event where TS is on the bill. I wouldn't be surprised if some risk management entities are refusing to underwrite coverage at all.

I posted he had been canceled in Las Vegas immediately, but there was no MSM link available.

For some reason I thought TS backed out of the Vegas show rather than the organizers canceling his appearance. But that could have been PR spin I suppose.

For now, if organizers of these upcoming events will simply continue to do the next right thing, I believe these natural consequences will be large enough to be a negative reinforcement/deterrent. It will also serve as a form of justice for one of those most culpable in this tragedy. TS had a a gift that brought him fortune and fame, and that has turned to immense loss and infamy as a result of recklessness. I think it is right that it is happening this way. .

I hope it will also serve as a lesson to other entertainers going forward. This can become a touchstone of when things changed and safety of fans became a TOP priority for events like this one. These are my thoughts and opinions in trying make some sense out of this horror. If there are not major consequences and significant improvements then the innocent victims lost their lives in vain. IMHO

Death by TS encouraged chaos should be considered manslaughter. Facing those consequences may be taken more seriously.

I drove past the site of the tragedy today on my way to jury duty. It was the first time I saw exactly where this horror took place. The parking lot is not where I thought it was, alongside the freeway. Instead it is adjacent to regular streets, that have hotels and apartments and a Target store directly across from it. Much of that large mountainous-looking structure is still there, and it appeared many workers were going about doing something on the grounds. It was sobering to gaze upon the ordinary parking lot that turned into a hellish death trap for the 9 adults and 1 precious child who died under the crush of a concert crowd. The nightmare no doubt goes on for those who witnessed it.

I wonder what will become of this space? Perhaps there should be a memorial of some sort so that the world never forgets that this could and indeed DID happen in 2021, when there was no comprehensive plan to protect the safety of fans. And part of the memorial might include a commitment to do all we can to prevent this from ever happening again in the future.

It seems like Travis Scott is being treated far more harshly than other top names who had concert deaths, Pearl Jam, The Who... those acts continued to perform.

Maybe this will blow over. Maybe the climate has changed in accepting these tragedies, with #metoo. No longer accepting "status quo".

The difference lies in the way the situations were handled.
