Not defending the perpetrator, or blaming the victim, but maybe it is time to counsel kids that "Ding Dong Ditch" is no longer a game. End this childish game, because the world has changed.
Wow, if it's that predictable, it's time a few houses set up remote spray of some sort- sprinklers, fart, string, or if legal, pepper. Something instant so she has a FAFO moment and maybe cuts it out. I would hate for worse to happen to her. This happens every few months in my neighborhood by one girl in particular (we know this thanks to everyone's ring cameras). She tends to loudly and violently bang on the door, rather than ring the doorbell. Without fail, people jump on our private FB group to give everyone a head's up that she's at it again and plead with the girl's parents to get her to stop. No one seems to know the girl and she may be coming in from another neighborhood. Inevitably, someone comments that one of these days she is going to bang on the wrong person's door. She did it to my house one night and it happened to be (of course!) on a night when my husband was out of town for work. Scared the bejeezus out of me!
Unfortunately, there is no rhyme or reason to when she does it. It can be months between incidents. In fact, now that I think about it, we are probably due for one!Wow, if it's that predictable, it's time a few houses set up remote spray of some sort- sprinklers, fart, string, or if legal, pepper. I think the poster's idea of spraying her with something is a great one. Also, is there security in your neighborhood? Anyone in the neighborhood a police officer or know one? Perhaps if the police was alerted what is going on and knew they'd be contacted with the first door knock, an officer could arrive in area while she's making the rounds. If she were stopped by an official, "arrested" and taken downtown. Then if she and her parents were given a stern lecture, would she be scared enough to not do it anymore? It might save her life. Of course, I live in a rural area where our officers are willing to help. Or the security/police might have ideas to offer . . .Unfortunately, there is no rhyme or reason to when she does it. Yes. Among other things parents have to tell their kids, “people will possibly shoot you if you ring their doorbells and run” is now one. Because I don’t think kids understand that at all.people do not want strangers ringing their door bells at 11 p.m. at night. Not a defense to shooting/murder, but so-called kids attack people sometimes and no one knows what is intended. Just say "no" to tik tok challenges.
