^" criminal investigation". Maybe it is, but they're not publicizing that in order not to spook a perp, or that they have a lead they are keeping everything close to the vest.

I sure hope that's the case.

I’m wondering if they received that info from the phone bill itself. I know I can see that detail on my bill. Also, I would assume Rusty was still calling and /or texting after 6:30 so 6:30 seems to be the last activity...
I was also wondering if it were Rusty texting that he was at home and then again asking Alan where he was. I am assuming AW's phone was paid for by the company and the bill went to his office. My husband's phone is paid for by his company, and his bill does not come to our house.

Ugh, I keep noticing that landfill to the east of where the car was found. I hope it was searched.

No cameras along 35E, especially in that last stretch? Though, it was only after 7 days the car was located.

I have seen a satellite view of where the car was found but I don’t remember the exact location. It was in a secluded area and looked like someone was trying to hide it..

Ok, it was released that the location was South Dallas near Simpson Stuart and Bonnie View Road.

So with what his niece said, the location info that was released, and this map, what do you all think? Maybe in that wooded area?

Would the company legally be allowed to give out that info? I’m assuming they had a shared phone plan.

And the car could have been "hidden" out of general view behind any of those nearby businesses.

I think we're only mentioning it because the niece said the seats were wet in the vehicle, and that it had been raining.
If no sunroof/rain, maybe the wet seats = an attempt to clean up the vehicle :(
Windows could have been down at some point too. Do we know what type of upholstery was in the car? I assume it would be leather not cloth?

If they were subpoenaed, absolutely. This is possibly a life and death emergency situation, so I sure hope everything possible was subpoenaed, and is being looked at, including his social media.

His niece used the word "secluded" though, which leads me to believe it was not close to any businesses.

I thought that it had been mentioned that his credit cards had not been used. Also, if the family had received a demand for ransom, I don't think the niece would be on this website or the family would be on the news or speaking to the press trying to find AW. They also hired a PI to try to locate him.

I don't know, though. Just my opinion.
Good points. As I mentioned, my speculation was based on the assumption that if AW's cards had been used (perhaps illicitly), and that if any demands had been made/received, LE and the family (at this stage anyway) would be very intentional in not divulging that info. All just my speculation though.

I hope so too. But this hasn’t been called a “life and death” situation. It’s a “want to locate”. I know I’ve mentioned numerous times how curious I am about what is legally allowed when it isn’t criminal. The privacy “boundary” is real. People are allowed to disappear willingly. People are allowed privacy. Personally, I want my privacy, but if I’m missing and it’s criminal but they just can’t find that evidence yet, I would give up my privacy.

We discussed this a bit on the Jake Cefolia thread. Banks can’t just give out credit card info and usage and most won’t with proper legal request, subpoena. I *think* that may apply to many more areas, employer, financial, dr, phone, etc.

I really would love a hard and fast list on what CAN actually be done, requested, received, etc. without a criminal investigation. If anyone find one, please link.

That's true, and that makes this all the more hard to figure out. It could still be a "want to locate" for all we know, as it has not been labeled "foul play" or a "criminal investigation" - at least that we know of.

That would be great info to have. It probably varies by state, maybe even county.

I was thinking that the car could have been driven through a car wash with the windows down. However, that wouldn't account for mud on the tires...unless it was just embedded in the tread.

I wonder if there is a reason the video is choppy and we don't see all of it. Him pulling in and him leaving, for example. Maybe someone jumped in the vehicle when he was in the store, and forced him to drive somewhere. Perhaps that's the part that cannot be divulged and is why the whole video is not being released. But you would think thy'd want to try and ID the person if that was the case?

It's all just so confusing.

The last time we see Alan on the gas station video the time stamp reads 5.48 exactly, then for some reason he disappears out of the video completely while standing outside his car. It doesn't show him walking away or entering his car he just vanishes at this point but why?

His family have said his car left the gas station at 6.00 so that's a full 12 minutes after last being seen on the video, so what was he doing for those 12 minutes? If nothing untoward happened at the gas station then why not just release footage of Alan getting back in his car and driving away? They released footage of him driving away from the LA Fitness car park so why not the gas station?

You can't help but feel that LE have a lot more information that they are keeping to themselves for now.

Maybe there were other people who were not shown for privacy reasons ?
Or maybe someone in particular who LE did not want publicized due to alerting the individual, or in concern for Alan's safety?
There was no-one in the LA Fitness video other than a unrecognizable guy walking in the background, and another car arriving.

Where is Alan? If he was the victim of a random crime of opportunity, i think he would have been found by now. The longer he is missing makes me think that this was planned. Did Alan have anyone he owed money to? Like maybe a subcontractor on one of his house flips? Did Alan have any enemies? or maybe a stalker? someone who knew his daily routine and would know his schedule? all MOO and I am still holding out hope Alan will be reunited with his loved ones.

Very good points, particularly about concern for Alan's safety. That could well be the reason that they are (possibly) holding back information.
