The neighbor lady just now on nbcdfw.com 5 oclock show says that she came over to play with them and when it was time to go home she ' would sob' and she seemed like a ' sad little girl' and she wishes she could do more to help her. She also said the little girl lived at the home with her parents and another man she called ' papa' but she would not elaborate. ( neighbor says little girl would not elaborate on who papa was )

SAGINAW — A 6-year-old girl found dead under a tarp near a street curb about 7:30 p.m. Monday had been playing outside her home on Babbling Brook Drive for most of the afternoon, police said Tuesday.

The girl, who had not been officially identified by late Tuesday, was reported missing about 9:15 p.m. Monday after her father went through the neighborhood searching for her.

Reports are all over the place, as usual in rapid development.

Let's slow it down to what little is fact. Not much I know.

Could the parents report any sooner? No, everything tells us no. Call now if you want and you will get told wait X amount of time.

Why didn't they try? Either they tried, or they knew not to, or they were involved. Let's not go to involved yet, unless police reports of abuse and drugs in the past start showing up.

Where was the child's remains found in relation to the home?

Did anyone in the home, or known to the home have a truck?

Did neighbors in the radiating blocks have similar trucks> Well, someone posted earlier google maps says many, but how old is google maps, and was the truck involved.

Now, let's wait for the DNA from that tarp, that WILL happen.

Why was the child dropped in that location? Or was it via speeding truck?

What have the neighbors seen in the last day that is unusual? The last few days?

Any known sex offenders, listed or SUSPECTED, there is a difference, in the neighborhood? Uncle so and so may never have been caught or went all the way, until it all went wrong, and staged. I don't think this is staged, but we have to wait for the ME's report on when the bag and ties went on, and TOD.

So, the child goes missing at 4 pm, and parents don't report her missing until 8 pm, 1/2 hour AFTER her body is found?

I don't like it.

It actually says that she was found at 7pm and was reported missing 2 hours later, which would put it @ 9pm.. I agree I"m not liking it either., Start with the people in the home as there is no way a 6 year old should have run of the neighborhood without parental supervision,,JMO but if she wasn't reported missing until 9, this was not the first time the parents let her roam freely without really knowing where she was at night. And here is something else, maybe she was only reported missing after seeing/ hearing reports that a little girl"s body had been found..all is JMO

Are you saying that if parents reported their 6-year-old child missing, LE would tell them to wait X amount of time to see if she shows up before they do anything?

In a small safe neighborhood like that, in the summer when evenings are long, it's pretty common for kids to have the run of the neighborhood without much supervision. You expect the kids to be home for supper, and if you have to go looking for them, maybe they get grounded for the next day or something.

I think it's possible someone abducted the girl when she was walking, or she went to a neighbor's house, who killed her. The parents told her to back by a certain time, and when she didn't show, they figured she was at someone's house. I am in the middle about whether it was someone in the house, or an outsider.

Yeah, I agree.

There is a certain kind of predator who just cruises the streets hoping for an opportunity.

In my City YES! In fact, you get an answering system if you call 911! Children must be missing for a certain amount of hours before it is noted, and you will be told so when you call. Maybe not in this case, but in this City, YES!!!

What city is this?! What's the population? An answering machine? Your city is going to have a major scandal and lawsuit on their hands one day when someone is abducted and murdered before LE even does anything.

Large population, used to be murder capital, keep it quiet now and let's just say when the old song 9.1.1. is a joke was made, it was not a joke song.

Wow. I thought you were going to say you lived in the a small town of like 200 people. That is very disturbing to hear.

JMO but in today"s world NO neighborhood is safe no matter how small

There is a sidewalk in front of the house. That just invites a kid to leave the yard. And a girl her age probably has a scooter or bike. She also may have older siblings. Young kids often tag along with their older siblings. If three kids go out the door together after two have said they are going to the neighbors to play in the sprinkler, it's easy to assume that the third child went, too. But it's possible that the little girl went her own way on her scooter and was abducted. If you recall the BreAnne Rodriguez case, we heard many of the same things. But she was just one house away with her bigger sibling. And it was the neighbor next door in that case. It still hurts me to talk about that one.

I wonder if this tarp was convenient or was purchased for this reason. I am going with convenient. After all, this may be a crime of opportunity. And the perpetrator likely was spontaneous. So the tarp may have been merely there. I'm imagining this happening in a back yard or garage near her home. After all, she was dumped not far from where she went missing. I can't imagine someone driving miles from the scene only to return an hour or two later. So I think they should be looking for someone from the area and someone with a sidewalk and someone with a use for a tarp.

A tarp is used to cover things. It can be used as ground cover for a tent. It can be used to cover a grill, boat or some other item that sits in a yard. A tarp can be used to cover a leaky roof. But those are usually blue tarps. It's time for me to check the Google map program.

If you check the breaking news/scanner thread, it sounds like there might be other interesting things to look at on google maps.

SNipped.................

We’re trying to establish when she was last seen. We’re also trying to determine when the tarp was first seen because we’ve had witnesses put the time from mid-afternoon until 7 p.m.”
Macon noted that the girl had friends in the neighborhood around her home, but authorities had not determined if she had been playing with any of them.

Investigators hope a video recording taken by a Saginaw police officer in his patrol car as he drove around the area where the body was found may provide clues, police said

That "mid afternoon to 7pm" thing...it's high summer, 7pm can still look a lot like mid afternoon. Still, that must be frustrating for LE, not knowing how long she was there.

I don't know about that part of Texas, but here in New England, lawn care people often use that kind of tarp to cover loads of branches/lawn clippings/etc.

Until I hear more, I don't fault the parents. It's summer time and the sun is out in many places after 9:00. Sure, you should keep your eyes on your kids 24 hrs a day, but it's easy to have a false sense of security in your own neighborhood especially if kids are running around all day. Maybe they thought she was at a friend's house playing and then couldn't find her (the immediate thought wouldn't be to call police because you "know" she is off playing somewhere and just have to find her). It's different than being at a store and losing sight of your kid for a couple of minutes and panicking.
