I'm not surprised. She's not stopping her coverage for anything besides a terrorist attack. She didn't give Leila Fowler's case any attention when the Arias trial was going on.

ETA: Plus, the Zimmerman trial is every weekday, and NG show doesn't air new episodes on weekends. NG can't just stop reporting on the trial for a few days, and then go back to it. Plus, there's always so much to discuss that it easily fills up the entire program.

Not to defend someone that I personally do not respect, but I do think that NG does not have any choice, and it is her network that dictates the non-stop coverage of the big trials, the whole evening lineup is about the trial.

And, on a more related topic...
I have seen LE claim it is an isolated incident and there's no need to fear before, even when it turned out to be a predator situation. I think as long as LE thinks there is no other linked case, they call it isolated. And it is an isolated case, until it is not. :scared::twocents:

Eta: my personal theory is that it is someone in the neighborhood, and that Alanna unfortunately chose the wrong doorway to go through....

I noticed that NG's ratings doubled from the first week of the Zimmerman trial compared to the week before, so that probably explains it.

Yes, I've been corrected three or four (or five) times now. :) I saw bike and fixated on Autumn since she was allegedly killed over her bike.

Sorry about that! I just saw everyone else correcting you and came back to say never mind and sorry! Lol! You had already responded.

OT, Autumn was such a sad case. They all are, of course. But it seemed like she was sort of forgotten in the wake of her parents' divorce and those boys saw an obvious vulnerability in her. So sickening.

I hope they find Alanna's killer quickly.

It's fine, I just didn't read the question carefully enough and Autumn has been on my mind ever since Wondergirl pointed out Monday was garbage day in Saginaw. For the benefit of those not familiar with her case, Autumn's teen killers put her in a garbage bin at the curb in front of the vacant house next door. Like Austin Sigg, the killers' mom turned them in.

Sorry, I got here late and responded before I finished reading... I tend to do that.... Again... I'm sorry

"There are a number of them that will strangle [the victim], bring them back, let them go unconscious, bring them back -- essentially torturing them. John Wayne Gacy was pretty famous for that. It goes back to that control of life and death. You'll see that kind of behavior more from sexual sadists than you will from a straight killing. They enjoy that component. That control. It allows them to engage with the victim the way they want, but not kill them, at least not outright."

Also Herb Baumeister, I think.

As dumb as it sounds, I had been questioning myself about the purchase wondering if it would make me MORE paranoid and nervous. A friend installed one and she's so surprised by how many lurkers are out on her quiet little street all the time (after dark). Ack!!! Ignorance is NOT bliss but man alive, that's creepy! I am home alone a lot at night and afraid I would obsessively watch the cameras and terrify myself. But there's definitely a high element of safety/security factored in, too.

Well I can understand both ways of thinking. Our neighborhood was having car breakins a while back. Our cameras video taped the guy breaking into my car. We could then see his size, build, hair color, skin color, that he wore gloves, that he worked alone and his getaway car.
It was quite helpful to the police and neighborhood.
also, if someone is knocking on my door I can decide if I want to answer it or not. Plus the cameras are quite visible so any criminal would think twice before doing anything here, if they saw them.

Driving through the residential area from another residential area instead of heading for the boonies with the victim makes me think the person could have left the area suddenly and doesn't live there, if she was intentionally dropped off on the road. The perp could have been visiting the area and left right after the murder. But why risk being seen by residents? So strange.

My daughter is turning 6 in a few weeks and this story is bothering me so much. I watch her like a hawk but I have friends who let their kids run all over the neighborhood and play over at their houses. They check in every 10 minutes of so to make sure they know where their kids are. They are lucky to have that type of neighborhood full of kids, mine hardly has any kids at all. Saginaw is a great place to raise kids, people are lucky. I hope LE knows what is going on with this case. If there are predators lurking, they have to be nabbed ASAP.

I don't know why, but I just have a feeling it is someone local, perhaps in the neighborhood. jmo

Saginaw goes purple for Alanna Gallagher
NBC/DFW
Updated 5:49 PM CD
Reporter Chris Van Horne
Investigators were back out in the neighborhood of a 6-year-old Saginaw girl whose body was found in a street a mile away from her home. Businesses and residents plan to wear purple ribbons starting this weekend in remembrance of Alanna Gallagher.

On Friday, officers were back in her Saginaw neighborhood, interviewing neighbors. Investigators left a home two doors down from Gallagher's home with a brown paper bag similar to what police use to collect evidence.

Someone asked about road construction earlier in the thread. Not sure if it was addressed but there is road construction on Bailey Boswell, a major road here. It's quite a mess and a lot of people are avoiding it at all costs, especially at busy times of day.

It was from twitter. RayVilleda an NBC 5 reporter.

I've never linked a picture from twitter before so I hope this sends you to the picture https://twitter.com/RayVilleda/status/352482955656036352/photo/1

Thank you so much! Yes, it's the same address. Same car in the driveway. "They've left" makes it sound like they left after all the commotion from Monday. JMO

I'll post the photo for you.

I wonder if LE will be asking neighbors for DNA samples (as was done in the Jessica Ridgeway case)?

Lori thanks for being willing to answer questions. Could you tell me if the street that Alanna was found is a bumpy road. Especially the spring hill Cindy and round rock roads. Thanks much

It's not bumpy at all. It's very flat and straight. The pavement is in good condition.
