Im trying to speculate why someone would intentionally leave a tarp with a body rolled inside. Not saying it was intentional, just if it were, what could be a logical reason? For instance, on my street, first trash day post new years people roll up their xmas trees in plastic and leave them at the curbside. One would never think twice there might be a body in it. So, was it trash day? The boys did originally think it was a bundle of trash right?

I have just got to say that I got on here yesterday and read about poor Alana.....this case has affected me a great deal. I mean they all do,especially the innocent children. But this is just so utterly awful. Poor little darling, I just hope it was quick.

Perp appears to have had everything handy: tape, bags, belt or strap and tarp.

These things ^^ likely stored in a vehicle or in garage.

He could have had it all in the truck.

I don't think it was anyone from out of town. I think it was someone that lives nearby most likely.

I am not sure the red truck is relevant. Maybe there was a red truck, but it was just a passer by? If it lived in the neighborhood, I think it would have been found by now.

(but then I guess it may have been and we just haven't heard)

Also, it could be someone that doesn't live in the area but has friends or relatives there and visits often? Still, I don't know if they would dispose of the body the way it was found.

Sometimes I do thing the body fell off a truck. ??

I also think it's likely to be someone who lives in the neighborhood and has seen Alanna before. They may have even talked to her and she was familiar with them. If the perp lured her into his house, and made a move to molest her, she may have started screaming and yelling. In a panic he felt he had to "silence" her. Thus he killed her and in a panic he had to get rid of her body. Thus the sloppy disposal of the body. I see it as a man who had no real previous experience in this type of crime.

If it was trash day, maybe it was left close by to be picked up but a dog dragged it into the street?

Where she landed just does not look like a fall. It is too close to the stop sigh, I M O

Anyone good with physics here and can figure out where she would have to be , the velocity, whatever else?

Why would he have placed her body in such a location to be found quickly? Someone was most likely was watching the boys find her. He probably wrapped her little body in a tarp to avoid incriminating fibers in his vehicle. I read somewhere there were identification cards also found? May have misread, but this could be a case of trying to stack the blame on someone else. I don't post here often but this is a special case; I have a 5 and a half year old son and wouldn't dare let him out of my sight in the neighborhood. I have met some little girls his age who seem so mature, bright, reading at 4. With older siblings around, and in a better neighborhood than I live in, I could see parents letting Alanna play around the neighborhood unsupervised. Given that, and her apparently inquisitive nature, she may have approached someone with more deviant tendencies. Plus, did the dad really graduate from MIT?

Not really, because you'd have to know things like the speed the truck was moving (do we know it came to a complete stop and then sped off?), and how sharp the turn was if the truck turned, and also I think how far into the bed of the truck Alanna was to begin with. And I was thinking about this...those smooth bedliners vs. an old, rusty truck bed...some surfaces would be much slipperier (is this even a word?) than others.
I've been thinking about the tarp too. I am thinking the tarp could have been more to conceal Alanna's body during transport than anything else. Open beds of trucks are visible to anyone in a taller vehicle.
I will be really surprised if Alanna's body was left in the street on purpose. This is a huge risk to take, in broad daylight on a residential road. You would have to be crazy to do this. But then again, anyone who kills a small child like this isn't all together in the first place.

I also tend to think if I had been aware something nondescript, seemingly tarped up trash or foliage or whatever, fell out of my truck bed, I would stop and put it back up on my truck. Leaving it seems by far more suspicious.
actually, im kinda going more in the direction she was placed there. But why????

The tarp could not have been there at noon and the neighbor seeing her at 5 PM.

As far as the clothing she was wearing, it would be so easy to photoshop the outfit onto a picture of her, I am sure there is software to do that.

It might jog a memory. Not everyone knows or cares who this child was. What I mean by that is that I no longer know who the children are in my neighborhood as my children are grown.

what if.... perp has her in the bag and was in a panic, in a hurry, saw tarp in road and figured it was as good a place as any...

Can someone please remind me what time of day the tarp was first spotted and how long it was there before the boys went to move it ?

This is a witness who says hand and feet were bound (but not with what):

Ms Whiddon told KDFW-TV that the girl was naked except for a bear (sic) of purple underwear and her hands and feet were bound. She had a plastic grocery bag over her head.

You could be right. My husband says that when items fall out of a truck, they tumble. He said IF she fell out, she would've been in middle of road, not neatly near the curb, and also says unless she was wrapped in the tarp tight, the tarp would not have been over her.

He was watching her be found since he co
uldn't stand the suspense of waiting to find out what happened if he hid her body. Doesn't it make sense he would be young (brain studies show our youth have a tough time with delayed gratification) and nearby?

SB, who lives a few houses away from the Gallagher family in this community north of Fort Worth, said she remembers seeing Alanna often wander around the neighborhood on her own, though Alanna would come by the B home.

"She was just a smart little girl who loved (classical) piano music," B said.

Again, it appears that Alanna engaged in conversations with the adults in the neighborhood. They "know" her.

The neighbors (tips) + video + evidence from body and "bundle"...

I have faith there will be an arrest in this case.

That is something that will scare me even more. Was the perp listening to a scanner so s/he/they knew if she was reported missing? Who would be so bold to place her there with the sun still shining and not knowing if she was reported missing?

I know I remember reading that the teens at least started to move the bundle, but then stopped when it was heavier than expected. We really don't know how far they'd gotten. (Nor how much unwrapping they did, though I think we can guarantee the crime scene photos do NOT show the tarp as they found it.)

If you check the Daily Mail news site for one of their recent articles, you will see some aerial and street shots of the crime scene. There is a solitary traffic cone visible more towards the center of the intersection. I've wondered if that cone may have marked the spot where the teens originally found her. (The road is completely roped off at the time of the photos; it is not there to direct traffic. If there was physical evidence, I think they would have used a traditional evidence flag?)

LE has not confirmed a time, but neighbors have reported times ranging from noon on throughout the day. I would suspect LE knows a definitive time frame, but has not made that public...or perhaps they are still questioning the witnesses (neighbors who claim to have seen the tarp). A local was quoted as saying they drove through there around 4 and there was no tarp.

If he was young and inexperienced. It would be helpful if any of the stores on that block had surveillance cameras viewed before they were erased, a common error in police work.
