People have said the speed limit was 20. That is really slow. So, anyone going much faster would stand out. That is perhaps why the truck stood out.
I do not think we could get a totally accurate idea, but I know that if they can figure out how to make engines work, someone can do the calculations on the probabilities where something would land based on different variables.
I am just going by looking, and it looks too close to me. Slowing down. What happens to the body? Speeding up again. What happens?
I do not think it could be a turn because it seems the body would be out more into the intersection.
I am sure LE has the calculations to figure out what happened.
When there is a car accident, they figure it all out , so I think it can be done.
To me, it would indicate accident or on purpose as well as the direction the vehicle would have to travel. Straight vs.,turn
A few of the early articles I've read made it sound as if the boys noticed the tarp 'in the middle of the intersection', though I'm not sure it's been directly quoted. I think it is possible the boys picked up the tarp, realized it was heavier than expected, and moved themselves and her out of the intersection to examine the contents.
Also, not a physics person, but I have seen something come out/fall out of someone's open trunk from the simple act of accelerating minimally after a complete stop.
A few months ago the I noted the car in front of me at a stop light had a full sized shopping cart (I don't know why!) half in/half out of their trunk, no bungee cord holding the cart in/holding the trunk closed. As soon a the light turned green, they accelerated normally, not at a high rate of speed, and the cart tumble out of the trunk (over the lip of the trunk.) They drove on, and I...had to get out of my car and move the cart, lol. Anyway, I think she could have tumbled out of a faulty tailgate/no tailgate, simply from accelerating from a stop.
Also, if
I were trying to get rid of a body, and noticed it fell out, I would probably drive off too. While the bundle might look innocent enough, I would know it was not, I'd be panicky and paranoid, and I wouldn't want people to be seeing me running around my truck, see my clothes, my face, my hair color, seeing me place the bundle BACK in my truck. I would drive off and hope no one saw it actually fall out. Maybe I just passed by the bundle, swerved to avoid it, Plausible deniability. If I had stopped to put her back in my truck, and the girl is discovered missing, people would be more likely to remember seeing someone throwing a bundle in their truck bed, and not only would they remember what the truck looked like, but they'd be able to describe me too. :twocents: and MOO. :seeya:
ETA: I must add that I would later be carping my pants after I realized the wealth of evidence I left in that bundle, that I should have picked it back up, but I think my knee jerk reaction would be to drive off.
