I am not sleuthing the parents and certainly am not accusing them, but can someone tell me why LE would search the family home and gather so much evidence when they are not suspecting the parents? I think I might be missing something here and am just asking.
TIA

Just a guess, but they have to start somewhere. And seemingly the house happened to contain a lot of the items they were seeking.

I hope if any of you are busted, it is in a really fun place like Hawaii so we will be paid to fly in as witnesses.

If you live in a place that has nothing of interest for us, please refrain from crime or consorting with criminals.

But as a newbie, you are forgiven , but just this one time

Apologies..... Tonite you had baked tilapia w/ ChaCre's New Orleans seasoning, salad, & Popsicles.

“Miss Gallagher was bound with some fashion of tape,” Macon said. “It was as much the goal of the search team to retrieve items to exclude the parents as suspects as ... it was to collect items we would consider evidentiary in value.
“This, of course, would require taking samples from their residence.”

Maybe they are checking the man living with them or someone he or they knew that could have had access to their house.

My most recent "wth?" is "arsenic cyanide purchase quick delivery."

As long you haven't searched "Will joining an internet crime sleuthing community be a good alibi?", it should be all good :giggle:

What is it that you don't believe?

LE said they took restraints because she was taped.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Or are they thinking this perp is so tiny and weak s/he would have to restrain a child to tape her?

They asked on the warrant for things that can restrain. Why?

This article has some good info.
http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/07/09/4991656/police-chief-saginaw-girls-parents.html
“There’s nothing to indicate that there was mistreatment in the home of these children,” he said.

“Miss Gallagher was bound with some fashion of tape,” Macon said. “It was as much the goal of the search team to retrieve items to exclude the parents as suspects as ... it was to collect items we would consider evidentiary in value.

“This, of course, would require taking samples from their residence.”

“The Gallagher/McDaniel family considers Miles as a parent, and we are being considerate of their lifestyle; it’s not our place to offer judgment on them,” Macon said.

My feeling is that:

1) The crime scene was found with a wealth of evidence in common household goods (tape bags etc, the list we all know so well at this point).

2) Family's house was the first and easiest to get a search warrant for to begin excluding common household goods.

Jessica Ridgeway's home was 'scoured':

Quick question. Has anyone ever tried to reply to a PM and receive a notification the member doesn't exist... When it's clear they do?

What keeps popping out at me is "some fashion of tape".......the tape was no longer there? Just the residue? Or they don't know what kind of tape it is?

Isn't that kind of like seeing your own name in the obituary?

:what:

Do we know which Dad spent so much time with LE today?

Also a little bit weird as to the extra word PRIME. why not just say they are not considered suspects.

The other thing that peaked my interest w/ that headline is who they are considering "the parents" in that statement? Just the biological parents or is the other guy also not considered a prime suspect? The article said something about both dads being listed in the obituary and that LE is respecting their lifestyle (paraphrasing)... but that does not mean that LE considers the extra guy an actual parent.

Yep..... My family left me 5 days ago... I just realized it an hour ago...

I will miss them... :sigh:

How do you get that to happen? The DH has been staying up way late the last few nights. He's crushing my SCEEP time :(

Lucky for everyone fox 4 is the only local channel that has LIVE feed of all their broadcasts, so anyone can watch on that link in 1 hour ! :)

Bumping my own post. This site shows the tv broadcast live. It's the only local channel who does that AND it's the only local channel with 9 pm news vs. 10 pm news. So in 10 minutes , this link will go live to the newest and I'd imagine the others may say similar things at 10 pm so they'll be worth looking at as well , but some folks don't stay up that late !

that doesn't explain why CDs/DVDs, flashdrives, cameras, ipods, game consoles, external hard drives, etc were taken.

they are looking for something very specific. very specific. they have suspicions about something even if they don't mention it.

:( I have a bad feeling about this.

If this has been brought up before now, I apologize. I haven't seen it posted..
Using Occam's razor principle, the body was probably wrapped in what was close at hand and such item may have been used for a common practice in Texas in the fall and winter, and was now available for another use in hot weather.

In Texas, many private pools and spas ( permanent type hot tubs, but probably not that soft side thing) are covered with tarps during the fall and winter.

Large or custom- shaped pools usually have custom fitted pool covers in my part of the woods, but many people just use a very large tarp weighted down on the ends. An in-ground spa or a heavy fiberglass spa located outdoors could also easily be covered with a tarp in the off- season.

The tarp would definitely have pool and spa chemical residue on it. This could be another reason why the pool water was obtained. IDK.

Also, another thought on the red tape. Anyone involved in health care has access to Biohazard tape, which is always red in color and is used to seal items containing bio- hazardous material. IDK if this will come into play in Alanna's case, but wanted to add another type of red tape for consideration.

IMO,
Maria

Not to be contrary or a "know it all", but in my experience bio-hazard tape is generally orange (some might call red, though) - generally body fluids.......or yellow - for example chemotherapeutics or other chemicals.

I also commonly see NFPA labels (red/blue/yellow/white) - most commonly used to help with firefighting.

If someone else has other experience, please don't hesitate to correct/expand. Thanks!
