I don't find the lack of media coverage alarming at all.

The family lives an "unusual" lifestyle and this would make the case much much more difficult to write about without seeming to bash them.

Even here we see the fact that they were "obese" and polyamorous has raised suspicion and accusation.

When LE say something is "an isolated incident", I take that to mean that they have DNA which they cannot identify...eg, no known RSO or felon.

DNA would most likely have been back overnight, if it was complete.

All these excuses about "it takes time" are really only for partial DNA. If there is whole DNA, such as semen, they can run it almost immediately.

I say they've already got the DNA profile and it does not belong to family.

Regarding the speed of an arrest - we have a case here where it took 8 years and a Coronial Inquiry before an arrest was made, even though the perp was identified within 2 weeks of the crime.

It's alarming for me because this little girl was found on a street where kids and adults were out all day YET no one saw anything. Why aren't the parents asking for something! If I was a parent whose child was found deceased. I'd beg all day long to whoever listened. Imo

I'm so glad you brought this up.

I earned myself a little 'time out' on ws a while back for bringing 'innocent' people into the conversation.

I would like to add that there was an 18 year old there that was involved in finding her body.

He made a statement something to the effect: "I realized it was a girl and then I dropped to my knees and started crying." (paraphrasing)


I just thought it was an odd statement.



I have teenage boys, I also have been around many people who have been in shock and often times their reaction is not to instantly drop to their knees and start crying.

Maybe the reason no one witnessed a vehicle dump her body there was because no vehicle did dump her body there.

I had similar thoughts about the oddness of the reaction and, of course, being the person to find a body provides some cover for incidental DNA. So, I went "hmmmm..." as well. But I just didn't see the scooter get-away as a viable option. And if we were considering such a perp, where was the crime committed? An 18 year old might have access to a car, but the logistics are still hard to fathom.

That's what the older teen said. The one on the scooter. They found the body together and some people say it had been there for awhile.

I also read these two are cousins. So where did they kill and wrap Alanna? When mom was home? And the neighborhood filled with kids playing? I'm not buying it. Not for a second.

Other possibilities I've been thinking of are: Jilted lover or someone from an online website someone in the household belonged to. Five year olds play games online, often on their parents mobile phones. With all of the location tracking on these phones, I wonder if it's possible that a psychopath was able to track her location somehow? Or it could be an internet friend from online. People can appear to be very much different than they really are online.

As an attorney you understand then how two people can look at the same circumstance and have a very different opinion.


I use to work in the ER and seeing people in shock react by dropping to their knees was not something I saw as a 'normal' or 'common' reaction.

I can bet you dollars to donuts someone else will come on and post that their experience was different.


I've also stood to the side while two extraordinary cardiologists looked at the same EKG and argued about what rhythm a heart was in.

It's a complex mix of culture, experience, mood, mental health, perspective, and transference.

Yeah, but I'm just not sure how suddenly and unexpectedly finding a body compares to being given bad news in an ER where bad news is anticipated or, at the least, dreaded.

It's a grammatical construction. We all refer to people as it all the time in grammatical constructions without any ill intentions.

There are plenty of pics and vids on the mother's online journal and even info of what city and pic of the house.

But, I see it more of a person in the hood who took the opportunity or knew she was unsupervised. It could be someone who was cultivating the relationship as well.

It does not appear the parents would verify where the child was going.

As far as the teens, unless they hang around Alanna's hood, they would not know her or her situation. They would have to have had a car at one point to get her from her neighborhood to that one.

I am quite sure she was not on a bike unless she was transported in one of those bike stroller/trailers for children. Then she would be out of site.
But she does not seem like the type of kid who would sit there under the covers being quiet in super hot temps

I would say yes because there are loads of pics of the whole family all over the internet and that is a scary practice. My sister does that and it gripes me. She splatters her kids all over fb and photobucket with their names and 'its' their birthday' and my most nauseating one ' date night with hub' which tells everyone the kids are with a sitter. All parents know the dangers of the internet and yet sometimes seems parents want to live in denial so they can show off kids first day of school and with their new haircut, etc. Scary stuff.

I believe that is an example of bad reporting. Nobody else said body was badly decomposed. She had only been missing for several hours before found dead.

To my knowledge the word decomposed has not been used again and I think that may be some excited false information at the time and is not true. Of course, if it is true, it's a whole new ball game but LE has given no indication she was missing longer than those few hours on that Monday afternoon. I think it was unintentional false info. moo

The possible decomposition was discussed when the story first broke.

I don't believe the decomposition was confirmed by anybody and we weren't sure what the source of this statement is.

We weren't sure if the child was in a state of decomp, which does start immediately after death. It was such a vague statement and can mean so many things as there are many states of decomp. There was probably post mortem lividity from laying on the ground and the blood pooling. Is that what was meant by decomp? We don't know.

I just had a thought about that tarp. Maybe it was used in a boat or sat around somewhere gross, near a garbage can or something for a long time and the tarp was smelly itself, so people at the scene got a smell that made them think decomp. Just some moo

Does anyone remember Holly Bobo? I'm getting the same weird vibe from this case like I did her's. The police said next to nothing and the family shut down. We still arent privy to certain crucial timelines and evidence found in that case. Everything went silent quickly. I fear the same will happen here.

BTW the media here in Dallas is a joke. Seriously. I've been to other cities and here traffic, politics and fluff pieces make the news. Stories show up and there is no follow up on TV.
