Are her siblings back with the parents? Are the parents back in the home?
Nothing has been reported as far as I can tell.

This is a very short read about a Dr. who was just arrested for some murders, the first one in 2008 and the last one in May.
Sounds like LE knew plenty but not enough to arrest for some reason

I don't know......there are other cases where arrests have come pretty quickly.....one example is the little girl in Louisiana just this week. I would think that if they had someone in mind and DNA (which is most likely back by now) supported it, we'd have an arrest by now. If there's enough for charges, why wait? They can always add more (charges) later as evidence mounts..... In the event there is more than one perp, it could lead to the others, etc......
I just don't understand why they would wait if they had enough to support charges against someone at that point?
I agree. If the trash is picked up in the morning, that makes it unlikely he intended her to be picked up.
Does anybody local know whether it's common for tarps etc. to be sitting on the street after the trash pickup has been made? Like do the garbagemen pull them off the waiting trash and leave them behind?

Personally I don't think it's DNA they're waiting on. As you say, that's almost certainly back by now even though they had a lot of it to test and compare. I think it's information about the cause of death, or of fibers or other chemicals that will tell them where the crime was committed, or something like that.
Some jurisdictions don't like to make an arrest until the prosecutor thinks there's enough evidence for a conviction, especially if the suspect isn't considered a flight risk. One of our local DA's has said that arresting someone then adding charges creates an impression in the jurors' minds that LE rushed to judgement and then manufactured evidence to support their preconceived notion.
I'm also not sure Saginaw police are calling all the shots. Seems like they could be waiting for info etc. from the FBI/Texas Rangers/etc. If they think there's aring, for instance, they might be waiting until arrests can be made in a different jurisdiction before they tip their hand by arresting somebody here.

Even though with a standardly early pick up time, could the schedule have changed that day/week due to it being a holiday week? It quite often does in my neighborhood.

I feel so bad for you! I was wondering if you slept with your kids right next to during these times. I know I would!
I think that LE knows who the perp is. Can you just imagine them having made a public announcement that neighborhood is in no danger, if something more were to happen, the liability? So even though nobody has been arrested for this murder, they much have someone they feel sure about. And they will keep him/her/them under surveillance.
However, much as I believe what I am saying, I would sleep next to my kids until someone is actually arrested.

I sure hope you're right about LE knowing who did this and where they are. And don't worry about scaring me any more than I already am. I'm not sure it's possible. I am writing this in my bedroom with my kids in bed between me and my husband. Yes, I am over-the-top.
There was quite a list on here of children who were killed by a parent and left by the road.
I don't know where the list is, but it is on this forum about Alanna somewhere

I believe two local posters on this thread have mentioned that they both happened to drive through the neighborhood on the day Alanna was abducted/found and that they noticed that garbage had not been picked up before 1:30-2:30 pm?
I'll go back and check.
So a possibility is ... the perp might have noticed garbage was running late, or the perp knows garbage come in the pm for this street?
True. Although, I believe this killer likes to brag to himself or show off & watch. Maybe his first real kill of a human being. Youngish. I think they wanted to see and hear the news.
If so, glad the news has stopped. (never did I think I'd ever say that)

Yes, I live three streets from where she was found and Monday is our trash day. I am fairly new to town and am not positive when they do pick up. Thursday is our next trash day so I will be looking out for them and let you know when they come.
For me it's a tough call without knowing the cause/manner of death and whether she was sexually violated. I have differing thoughts on it depending. I still wonder about her clothes.
Or she was heavier than the maximum? Or they didn't think the tarp was a disposable container?
Something was preventing the perp(s) from burying her. Lives with others? Rents?
Yes, I know, I followed the case. I was responding to a comment about whether other killers had left their victim in a more or less public place to be found. I mentioned Jessica's killer because he was an example. I wasn't speculating on the reasons or what either Alanna's killer or Jessica's hoped to accomplish.
I don't live in that area, but around here, schedule doesn't change. If there is a holiday, trash pick up just doesn't show up. Then it shows up on the next scheduled day.
Trash pick up does not occur here either on a holiday. That is why that week schedule changes for the trash company. But we still get our trash picked up weekly.
Garbage isn't supposed to be left in the middle of the street. Also, by the time she wen missing, it was most likely picked up already. Considering it has been reported that she went missing sometime after 4-5 pm.
