Angela Marisol Diaz, 22, was reported missing on July 2 and her case is still being investigated by police. Since then, her family has learned some concerning developments.

The family said the case was reassigned to a human trafficking detective. They’ve also sought outside help to find Diaz.

With months having gone by, the family fears Angela is in need of help.

“I believe that she’s still alive and that someone has her, right now she doesn’t communicate, hasn’t communicated with nobody. And if you’re the police, what will it take to take the case seriously,” Edward Diaz said.

A man who police had questioned after Angela Diaz, 22, disappeared has now been charged with promoting prostitution, raising fears Diaz could be a sex trafficking victim.

Court documents reveal that HPD detectives are investigating a man named Krystopher Karvon Brown.

Houston Police say Brown is not in custody and anyone who knows where he is or has information about Diaz's case should call HPD.

According to court documents, detectives interviewed Brown after Diaz was reported missing. Detectives say Brown claimed he tracked Diaz using an app called Life 360 on her phone. Late on the night of June 30, he dropped Diaz off at a motel along the Gulf Freeway. Police interviewed a second man, who said he had agreed to meet Diaz to pay for sex. He was the last person to see her before she disappeared.

So the "boyfriend" was her pimp as we suspected, that story never made sense! Now he is missing too, not surprising - he probably footbailed right after they questioned him when Marisol disappeared.

IMO - Marisol was no longer valuable to him after the undercover cop found the messages on her phone and linked her to Brown. He traded/sold her to the man he dropped her off with.

So what happens now? Is she in greater danger now that all this information has been released? In light of all the P Diddy charges that have been released, I'm learning things I never knew about trafficking. I'm scared that Marisol might not be found and that breaks my heart. An innocent 21 year old young woman, she was a perfect target.

Why wasn’t he arrested the day the undercover cop met with her since he was picking her up. Did they send her back with a purpose and he found out about it all? Some version of that is my guess.

Also if he was using Life360 and her phone was on until the last ping then they have a pretty exact path of what occurred in the day or days prior.

My opinion is the phone was thrown into the water. I do not think she was sold. I think he found out and then she was no longer alive.

Attendee Edward Diaz said that he’s been waiting for justice for nearly a year after his 22-year-old daughter Angela disappeared.

“She was a loving daughter, she was young,” Diaz said. “I want justice for my daughter. I want closure.”
According to Diaz, police told him the case is now being investigated as a homicide. However, Angela's body has still not been found. Diaz said early investigative delays may have cost them critical evidence.

“I tracked her phone and found cameras that could’ve shown where she was,” he said. “But I was told that police had to request the footage. They never did.”

I’m so sad for her family. They feel like LE didn’t even care enough to do a thorough investigation. What an awful thing to do to her loved ones.

Details of Disappearance

Diaz was last seen in the 8500 block of Park Place Boulevard in Houston, Texas on July 1, 2024. She has never been heard from again. Authorities believe she may be in the company of a person named Justin Alexander Scarbrough.

In November 2024 Krystephor Karvon Brown was charged with sex trafficking Diaz prior to her disappearance; the charge was promotion of prostitution. A photo of him is posted with this case summary. He was arrested and then bonded out of jail.

The police had found a "sex ad" for Diaz on an "illicit website" and officers arranged to meet up with her at a hotel, where they detained her and identified Brown as her pimp; he drove her to the hotel, and would drive her to all her appointments with clients and wait outside. Diaz went missing days after this incident.

Authorities stated the sex trafficking case is separate from the missing persons investigation; it isn't clear whether Diaz's disappearance is connected to Brown or to prostitution. Her case remains unsolved.

They may be separate investigations, but IMO - her disappearance is clearly linked to both and it’s asinine to make that statement.

My sympathies lie with Marisol’s family, they must be so discouraged. One year later and still no progress in her disappearance.

The family of Angela Marisol Diaz says their yearlong search for the missing 22-year-old has ended in heartbreak, confirming remains found in Clear Lake earlier this year belong to her.

Both her MP and UP case files are still up on NamUs (UP140815).

I'm so sorry to hear the outcome but glad she was found - but in reading the last few articles there's something that doesn't make sense to me (i.e. I'm missing something posted elsewhere perhaps)- if officers were with her, while she was actively working as a sex worker, perhaps against her will, why wasn't she offered some sort of safe place to go, instead of just collecting evidence against her pimp through her, and then leaving her at the hotel? The words "detained her" to me means she knew they were police officers, even if it started out as undercover or plainsclothes. I understand that victims of sex trafficking may not recognize themselves as being victims because they have been expertly groomed by a trafficker to believe they have chosen to participate in commercial sex. But, I feel like the system to help her, failed her.
