update as of 23m ago. Just listening myself.

Edit to add commentary:

Left after an argument between mother and daughter. The daughter Athena ran away.
Sheriff says that she is known to run away or leaving the house. They see this as good news and they hope she will return.

LE went to each house in the area.
Worried about weather
at this time they believe she left on her own, but not ruling out abduction or that something happened.

If she has a history of running away and left yesterday due to an argument - that tracks - I would assume she probably got lost? But it was pretty cold last night (28 degrees per weather.com). If she didn't have proper winter clothing on, I'd be worried about how she made it through the night.

<modsnip: quoted post removed> Here's mention of step-mom in MSM:
The Wise County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) says they got a call from a mother shortly before 7 p.m. on Nov. 30. She said she had went to the daughter’s room, but she was not there. After looking for her stepdaughter, 7-year-old Athena Strand, for about an hour, she contacted the Sherriff's Office.
Child missing out of Wise County since Wednesday evening

If she could have, She would have come home when it got dark and she got hungry. Imo.

That weather is very concerning. Something is off because I would think she would go home if she could. It was cold 35 degrees when she was reported missing at 7p. Here is a link to weather.

Oh my ... just saw this thread and ... can't help but think, oh no, not again. Seven years old is a very young child and no matter how independent, not likely to intentionally stay away from home all night. Once it starts to get dark, most kids would head home, unless they are lost, or can't ... for some other reason. Gosh, I hope they find this little girl real quick, that she is safe, and can be returned to her family.

I haven't yet seen any news reports featuring the parents and/or stepparents, or anything telling us their names. I know they are victims and we cannot sleuth them but it would be helpful to see them or know their names. Prayers for little Athena and all who love her. Moo

On that much land, I wonder if she had a "hideout"? If she is allowed to play anywhere on the property, I bet she does. Though I would think she would have been found by now if she was there. Or maybe she attempted to walk to her moms or a grandparents house and something happened to her on the road?

I'd like to know if there were previous calls to 911 reporting Athena as a runaway. Otherwise I question where the sheriff got the information, mom, dad, stepmom?
That thought crossed my mind too. But even if she DID have a history of running away we are talking about a 7yo. I can't imagine those episodes would have lasted very long. They'd get bored and/or hungry and come home if they could. I don't even think my 11yo would make it very long "running away."

She has a history of running away…

1. How long does she usually stay gone?
2. Where does she usually go to?
3. Does she run away from both mom’s and dad’s houses?
4. Did she take anything with here? Favorite toy, blanket, backpack?
5.what usually happens when she returns? Is she punished, so maybe scared to come back? Or is she welcomed and the problem worked out?
