A treehouse, a deer blind, a cool fallen tree, a quiet tree...BUT only when it was daylight. Seriously, how can she go anywhere? It gets dark at 5:24! I can't imagine her walking anywhere. It was cold and dark.

Does she have a phone? Did anyone look for social media? Seems super young for that.

Link for sunset. Sunrise and sunset times in Paradise, Texas

Edit for clarity of my "seriously".
Could she maybe have gotten stuck in a tornado shelter? Somewhere out there?

I am not casting aspersions on anyone here, just to be clear. However, based on MY experience with 7 year olds, there is no chance in H E L L this little girl is wherever she is of her own volition 24 hours later. Whether it started out with her "running away" or it didn't. Something untoward has happened, either accidentally or on purpose.

Just saw about this case cause Nancy Grace tweeted a link to a Crime Online article about it. I hope that she is OK!

Something is very off for sure! Too many oddities in this case. A seven-year old girl with a history of running away from home? Young girl has "argument" with parent? Parents leave the home for awhile after the argument? When mother checks child's room, child is gone? Mother looks around for an hour then reports child missing. It is darn cold in that neck of the woods; child has been missing 24 hours and going into another night, and I'm not buying this story.

At that age I remember getting in a fight with my mom, packing a bag, and riding on my bike down the street and immediately turning back around bc I had nowhere to go.

I hope no one took advantage of this beautiful baby girl

I am catching up. Did police have a FLIR up last night or early this morning?

Giving shades of Serenity Dennard. Hope Athena is found.

That is a great idea. Even additionally making sure all vehicles AND trunks, and camper shells are checked.

update as of 23m ago. Just listening myself.

Edit to add commentary:

Left after an argument between mother and daughter. The daughter Athena ran away.
Sheriff says that she is known to run away or leaving the house. They see this as good news and they hope she will return.
Infrared is out
LE went to each house in the area.
Worried about weather
at this time they believe she left on her own, but not ruling out abduction or that something happened.
interviewing friends in the area for insight
100's of volunteers from the area.
This reporter on scene said they had infrared but didn't say FLIR specifically but I think that is what they meant.

Are there tanks and ponds in the area where she was last seen?
Sorry, but I am only aware of the surrounds from mapping others have posted. I live in similarly rugged terrain south of there, but am not familiar with Paradise (awkward, sad statement).

This is just not good I’m afraid, for nearly every scenario.

"At first they searched a six acre radius around Strand's house. But is has since expanded, to include the FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety and Fort Worth police officers on foot and horseback. Several K-9 units, drones with heat seeking technology and ATVS were also used. " CBS Link

If they searched yesterday with K9 (I assume SAR), it's strange they didn't pick up a scent trail so soon after she left, isn't it?

This is the terrain map. Is the red dot the right location?

Zoomed in, enhanced with photoshop. Shades of grey are changes in elevation.
