Sherriff and family members speak, interesting information. Volunteers sent home, they will resume search in the morning. They may use thermal detection in the air tonight as they did last night.

Appears to be no leads, despite the use of dogs, volunteers & choppers :(

I hope Athenas mom speaks to reporters to clear up some of the confusion.

Not sure if he misspoke because times are different now. Was 5:30/6:40 now he's saying 4:45/5:30.

So there was an argument between stepmom and Athena (nothing unusual). Stepmom went and made dinner. Stepmom went to get Athena for dinner and she was gone.

Usually, find the child close. So you look around the house, then expand. Paraphrasing Sheriff.

This makes me think of Ryker Webb. Didn't he end up like 2 miles from his house and he was only 4?

Is that the one in Texas? I can't remember his name. Just remember the older, awesome Sheriff. And, in that case he was 2 miles or maybe 3 away and 4 years old. Yes. Praying for that outcome.

This isn't going to end well. imho. I pray I am wrong.

I just searched to see if Athena had a Facebook - of course, I didn't expect she would. But her name is being discussed frequently so awareness has spread. Which is good, yet sad.

Don't you mean step-mom? That's the one she is living with & reported her missing.

I wonder where she ran to before?

Also whether the argument was with both parents and she felt she had nobody on her side. We don't know if there are siblings.

And we still don't know the mother/stepmother relation. If there were custodial aspects and she didnt want to stay where she was.

I'm hoping she had someone safe to go to.

I’ve seen that but everything I’ve read also said dad was hunting and was step mom whom she had the argument with.
It seems it matters which MSM is covering it which version we are getting.
Agreed. I’m seeing so many different versions.

At that age I remember getting in a fight with my mom, packing a bag, and riding on my bike down the street and immediately turning back around bc I had nowhere to go.

I hope no one took advantage of this beautiful baby girl
Which I feel is about a normal 7yr old thing stomp off then come back. They are hopefully starting to question every adult she’s even been close with.

According to officials, the AMBER Alert was issued to broadcast that Athena was missing or possibly abducted to as many people as possible.

The reason why it wasn't done sooner was because the family told the sheriff that Athena had done this before, so the sheriff's office felt that they would have found the child eventually in the night.

According to the sheriff's office, around 200 citizens have helped in the search and that they have searched an estimated 50 acres, so far.

Anyone locally from Paradise TX. Just wondering who the local news channel would be. I question this bc on Tuesday night a 9 yr old boy in Richardson left home at 1030/11pm after an argument. He was found safe Wednesday. I know the DFW area news channels covered him running away after an argument and being found. Less then 12hrs later we start hearing about this.

View attachment 384155Just got this on my phone.
Edited to add that I’m about 4 hours out from Paradise but the whole state of Texas probably gets it.
Didn't original report say she was wearing a jacket when she went missing? Now it is just a long sleeved shirt?

NEW: The biological mother of missing first-grader Athena Strand shared these photos of her. She says Athena was afraid of the dark & wouldn’t run off, what law enforcement says they believe happened.

A bit more info from Univision Dallas/Fort Worth (make sure you translate in Google):
The Wise County Sheriff's Office said this is not the first time the minor has left the house like this and they believe she had an argument with her parents.
The parents left the house after the discussion
, when the mother returned, she checked the minor's room and did not find her, while the father was outside.
Authorities have said that the family, especially the parents, have cooperated with the investigation.
The parents left the house? Did they leave the child alone?
