Yount told jurors he performed a comprehensive physical exam and lab work, including blood and urine testing, and found significantly low testosterone levels.He said Horner’s total testosterone measured 199, below the normal range, and his “free” (active) testosterone was also well below normal.

The doctor explained testosterone’s role in behavior, saying higher levels can stimulate parts of the brain tied to aggression, which in some cases can contribute to violent behavior. By contrast, he said lower testosterone would generally mean less of that influence.

Using animal comparisons, Yount told jurors that reducing testosterone in animals typically makes them less aggressive, though he emphasized it does not completely eliminate the possibility of violence.

On cross-examination, prosecutors kept their focus narrow, establishing that Yount’s opinion was limited to the lab findings. The doctor acknowledged he could not say whether Horner’s testosterone levels were different at the time of the crime.

The judge said Horner's brother will no longer testify.

Court resumes Thursday morning, with Horner's grandmother expected to take the stand.

Defense testimony is expected to wrap on Monday, with closing arguments as soon as Tuesday. At that point, jurors could begin deliberations on whether Horner will be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole.

Agreed. That said, the defense created the scope of her report. They also undermined her work because they limited her to a narrow mitigation focus. The defense knew that the prosecution would ask all about his actions and her lack of focus on them. 100k not well spent.

I will never get over the fact that Athena has imo been constantly disrespected even after her horrific murder. It took basically 4 years from her murder for her murderer to even go on trial. Now we have a full 7 days of “witnesses” trying to downplay or make excuses for the horrible monster who did this to her. I had to step away for a few days. I understand our justice system but no this is not right. Why are we not standing up for this little girl more? I’m so sickened by all of this. Why is he still breathing???
