SD card contained the video from the fedex truck. So he had to go through the third party company that controls the videos taken by fedex truck. That software allowing for playback of the SD card is proprietary meaning they needed a special reader to access that video on the card. Once they had the correct software they were able to access the video.

oh God. I think Prosecution are laying the groundwork for prosecution to play the videos from inside truck, including the audio that continued recording after Horner turned off the camera

it was important for them to go about it through this means so that LE didn't alter or compromise the information on that SD card.

Defense is now cross examining Espinosa, they go straight into the SD card. asking who collected it from the truck etc. Who tried to play the card to discover it couldn't be played.

Defense asks why Espinosa hadn't read Horner his right until 16 minutes into their encounter. Espinosa agrees, he did not, starts to explain that it wasn't necessary because of the exigent circumstances but is cut off by defense. Prosecution will be cleaning that up in redirect I am sure. Defense is suggesting that Horner asked for an attorney and that Espinosa denied him that. I can tell redirect will be extensive.

According to "Zero", Tanner didn't kill Athena, Zero did. Tanner was in the 'back seat'....or in the trunk. Zero is the bad dude. Except when he wanted to help LE find Athena....then he was the good guy. Got it?

Defense suggesting that their poor poor client is mentally ill.

Is it true He asked you to shoot him in the head several times? No, best of my recollection he asked me only once to shoot him in the had.

Defense is phrasing their questions in such a manner as to convey info they want the jury to have, such as "are you aware that Strattera is prescribed for . . " No I am not.

So far, I am very impressed with the calm, cool, and clear responses from the detective/witness. He doesn’t take the bait thrown out by the defense attorney. Kudos to him.

boo hoo defense says LE lied to Tanner Horner because they led him to believe they felt for him and thought he was remorseful. Yes man it was an investigative tactic.

Defense is objecting again, something to do with their request for personnel records of FBI personnel being denied them.

defense continues to object to other items. Prosecution objects to their objections because they are still in the presence of the jury and defense is discussing things that took place outside the presence of the jury. Judge humorously says to jury "go to your room" courtroom erupts with nervous laughter.

as a CAST agent, he helped with more of the technological aspects of this investigations.

FBI CAST (Cellular Analysis Survey Team) is a specialized unit of experts in how to obtain, understand and use cellular network data in a law enforcement setting. CAST team members can be called upon to help locate a missing person or track the movements of a wanted criminal, for example

describing locating devices associated with Horner in the geofenced area of interest and it moving within that area.

Defense approaches in a sidebar with what may be yet another objection.

ETA they are referring to his phone (with or without sim card) and the vehicle with it's own modem I think?

it's just so stinking sad. She had just gone through a learning exercise at school about safety and stranger danger. Her asking him if he was a kidnapper broke my heart. Her little frightened concerned face in that video of her riding in the back of the truck as he drove her away. Just awful to think about.
