I feel this guy should be investigated as a potential serial rapist, or even as a potential killer. He was far too calm and collected during the crime. Men who commit such crimes the first time usually are far more excited.

Does anyone know if he heard this video prior to yesterday? I know that evidence has to be shared before a trial and was just curious if he knew just exactly what they had before they played it.
It was awful. Very chilling. And I doubt I’d ever keep Jingle Bell Rock on ever again when I hear it played.
Heartless, cruel, there really are no words.

I don't know. It was disturbing that his own Mother, asked TH, whether or not he SA Athena.

"Tanner, I just hope you didn’t do nothing weird to that little girl,” she said, after asking whether her son had sexually abused his victim, FOX 4 reported.

When Horner insisted he hadn’t, his mother responded, “I just know how you get.”

So, the question is, why did TH mother say those things? What dark things does she know about?
Wow, wow. I hadn't read this. I haven't really started following until recently. I believe she absolutely knows who he is. That he has a dark side, one that probably should have been addressed at a young age.

I think it's cruel to make the jury listen to that and disgusting to allow him to listen to it and probably enjoy it. The whole thing is grotesque. How about a transcript to read, with an expert testifying about what is depicted? The jury system shouldn't be designed to traumatize jurors, and yes, I have served on two juries. I would have left and excused myself from serving.

As awful as it is, it is literally the most damning evidence they have. It is a moment by moment witness of what actually happened, not his version of it or an expert guessing based on injuries or luminol reactions or DNA traces.

I couldn't stand it, but it's important that it was part of the body of the state's evidence. Otherwise, what's to stop the defense claiming it's got some kind of mitigating content. The whole thing proves there is absolutely nothing of that kind, just a brutal killing of a child for sexual gratification by a predator with no hope of rehabilitation.

In my opinion, it will mean the difference between life imprisonment and the death penalty.

There are many, many cases every bit as torturous as Athena's, and the perpetrator gets lesser sentences than they deserve because the killing isn't caught on tape. Recording is an awful, awful thing, but it can't be minimised when it's that brutal. The Moors murderers come to mind. They died in prison.

from watching and reading about true crime for years post an event such as murder the adrenaline crash is huge, murderers are often very sleepy or chilled, I remember the young girl and her boyfriend who murdered 3 members of her family went home and slept, if I could hide this sentence under a blue sticker I would but am not tech savvy enough to do so but it is almost similar to post coital,

his defense attorneys would have thoroughly prepped him, only he and they know if he listened to it pre trial

Separated for 60 years.
No contact. No answers.
Until a cold case changed everything.

In 1971, a young woman was found barely alive in a quiet Maryland field with no ID, and no witnesses. Succumbing to her injuries, her case went cold.

For 54 years, her identity remained unknown, until advances in forensic DNA and a determined investigation finally uncovered the truth, revealing a family torn apart for decades and reunited two siblings who had not seen each other in 60 years.

In Episode 2 of Trace Identity, a new series from Othram Studios, we explore how DNA can transform uncertainty into identity and change lives in ways no one expects.

I think this was his first murder, but I don't think he was a one and done, if he had got away with it their would have been more,

Yeah, his stalking, prowling behaviour. He used his van rather than peeping though windows at night, but it's the same step on the path of evolution of a sexual predator. I'm sure there were plenty of kids besides those two others mentioned that he'd taken note of in case he ever came back to their street.

EDIT: I bet that's why he was so steamed when they changed his routes. It had nothing to do with his autism, it meant he couldn't keep stalking the same kids but had to keep starting over in a new area.

Yes, that's a really good point as sick as it is he probably had his favorites,

This is going to be a world record for short deliberations. I'm not a fan of the death penalty but I won't weep for this monster. I give them 1/2 hour max to come back with the verdict. They might even take a stand-up poll.

Yeah, I'm generally against the death penalty but I have a short list of predators I consider exceptions to that rule. He makes the cut.

I can’t imagine walking away from being on this jury and leaving knowing what that would mean for the trial. The burdens some of us have to hold on our shoulders (in this case the jurors) are far too much but it absolutely is stopping the SA of more children.

There are alternates in every jury for reasons of illness, etc. In a big trial, there will be at least two alternates. Walking away would only cause an alternate to be empaneled, and they've been watching the trial same as the others.

Speculation only, I wonder if this is stopping anyone but this guy. The problem with child sex predators is that very little will ever stop them. In fact, the release of all of these awful details is probably the opposite of a deterrent. (Stopping this guy is a good thing, obviously.)

Stopping this guy is enough. It is the responsibility of this jury, and it's what this trial is for. Without stopping him, he will kill again.

There is no cure, no solving the problem of serious sexual offenders except incarceration. They can't change because they don't want to change, they just want to get away with it.

There is no remedy but catching them while their body count (living or deceased) is low, and never giving them another moment of opportunity with a vulnerable person.

OMG

I never thought of that, never questioned it beyond the entitlement.

He was stalking little girls, knew where they were on his route.

Had also perfected his candy/puppy/yourmomsaiditsokay. "Is your grown up nearby, to get the package?" Christmas, Easter, birthday... there's always a nearby holiday....

I wonder if there are parents today who now are remembering an encounter of their own, seemingly innocuous at the time. Bone chilling now.

Little girls have been at risk wherever TH delivered prowled.

Creepy random guy in a white van prowls the neighbourhood trying to talk to little kids, someone's going to call the cops. But a delivery driver driving his regular route, delivering parcels to those same kids... It's the perfect camoflauge.

Kind of makes me sick, because one of my oldest friends just retired from working the same route for USPS for about three decades. He knew everyone on his route, rescued and rehomed stray cats he found or people on his route found, and genuinely loved his route community. This predator is like the dark opposite to my friend's life.

One of the worst cases of SA/ murder of a child was that of Cherish Perrywinkle. The ME even teared up testifying describing what was done to this beautiful 8 yr old girl by Donald Smith. IIRC, the jury took 15 minutes to give him the death penalty. He is sitting on death row in Florida since 2018….and of course trying to appeal.

I expect about the same amount of deliberation time for TH and no doubt expect him fighting for appeals as he sits on death row in Texas…..

There were videos in both these cases. In Cherish’s case there were videos of him following around and leaving with her in Walmart. In Athena’s case, the videos were far worse as he was torturing and murdering her heard by the jury. Both of these beautiful young girls were found dead in the water.
