"now now Tanner, you are not a piggy bank, we don't eat coins." (sarcasm alert - sorry but I am sorely tired of this dog and pony show)

Which he did as an infant.

Will this slow moving Defense ever finish?

I’ve never heard of a speech pathologist teaching manners. Or did I misunderstand?

Exactly ? How did this woman go from speech impediments to OT training, in the field/home training?

She tried to get autism in.

this witness is a wild card. She really wants to just pour out a bunch of info about autism and his alleged diagnosis but is being hampered by the structure of the Q and A format.

Honestly, I’d require her certification to let her testify.

kids were tested by diagnostician, that is how they were admitted to the program. Tanner was treated as if he was autistic, ergo he must be autistic.

Guess we can all go home, no need to see the report, no need to voir dire the person who wrote it, nothing to see here.

Wild card is right. She wants to testify to everything….whether she’s qualified or not. She thinks she’s very important . IMO
So irrelevant and boring. She needs to stop with the jokes too. Not cute. IMO.

Crazy isn’t it?

Team effort to change behavior.

So... so far.... he doesn't play well with others because he wants his way.
He showers, he just doesn't rinse out shampoo. Happened once.
Announced to the room he had to go to the bathroom, announced he'd be in there a while.
His attorney announced to the room she needed a restroom break. Judge said "two minutes". She said "more like three".

The only conclusion I'm left to draw: TH's mother came from a brutal childhood into a hard adulthood. TH had a grandmother who rallied for him, got him a slate of early interventions. He had teachers and paraprofessionals who cared about him, and he commit these crimes anyway.

Nothing in his past predicted this.

TH himself predicted it. The first time he turned off his forward dashcam.

she is asking the judge if she can clear "something" up. This lady really wants to hear her own voice. Wants the attention. I am surprised she is blurred, I would think she would want the spotlight, based on how she's behaving on the stand.

And she hasn’t seen him in 20+ years.

A Speech-Language Pathologist works with social skills (pragmatic language skills).

He was definitely bullied through school, those aggravated him, made him angry.

"At times" he could identify other people's feelings and emotions. Was he able to understand boundaries? No. (emphatic) How do you know this? I just do! (as if the fact she says it is proof enough)

I'm angry that the Defense is using this witness as an expert witness relative to TH/autism without admitting her as an expert.

  • #2,096
Her testimony does not mirror her testimony before the judge, jury not present.
She mentioned autism when she asked to speak freely in front of the jury. You’re correct, she was told not to.

Enough with the laughter.

Maybe they've forgotten why we're here.

Witness: I am not sure where you are wanting me to go with this.

Got it. She is here to give the defense what they want but is unsure how to give it to them under the narrow constriction of what she is allowed to discuss or not.

Thank you. I know a few but they don’t teach manners in public as this witness did.

How is this nonexpert witness qualified to tell us what TH was thinking?
