around 2021 I started seeing him again while I was having relationship troubles. Having issues with my son. Would drop my son off and he and his fiance would watch my son, they had a son too.

in 2022 he moved to a new city and that sort of ended their friendship. He saw the story on the news, couldn't believe this was the man he once knew.

met his family, met grandparents, liked them. Billy respected me the most Billy said. I always liked him, he gave me a book to read before he passed away. Jackie was always sweet and nice to me. Grandpa was the typical amount of "hard" on Tanner. I never knew him to be rough. He saw Bill yelling at Tanner but can't recall the words use. Tanner would just roll his eyes.

Defense is trying to get witness to recall instances of abusive behavior by grandpa Bily but witness cannot recall

Yesterday, the Defense asked their expert witness if the TH she met was the same one on the video.

This trained specialist answered no. Without qualification. No, Ma'am, he is absolutely the same person. Just because you can't reconcile it doesn't make him two people.

Even TH pulled that nonsense. TH, good. Zero, bad.

No. TH is one person. One sick person. Capable of great depravity.

He didn't snap.

He stopped living within conventions of decency so he could do what he really wanted to do.

The sick irony of so many witnesses testifying about 5th grade TH… when that’s the very grade Athena didn’t live to see. So much of this defense hits points of pain for her family.

Reporter on WFAA said the jurors are going to get a detailed transcript of that awful video. It was hard to hear all the detail of what he was telling Athena in the courtroom.

A witness identified only as 'Jay' testified Tuesday morning, describing a friendship with Tanner Horner that began in 2014 through mutual acquaintances. He told jurors the two bonded over shared interests in card games, YouTube videos and music, specifically ‘screaming’ rock.

The testimony took a somber turn as Jay described Horner’s alleged history of self-harm. He testified that when Horner faced emotional abuse from his mother, he would often cope by hitting himself in the head with significant force. Jay emphasized to the jury that while Horner frequently harmed himself as a coping mechanism, he never witnessed Horner direct that violence toward others.

Jay admitted that he and Horner frequently used drugs including marijuana, molly, and acid.

Have not bn following any live coverage or recorded news clips of ^,
am relying on our wonderful posters here.

Seems extreeeemely unusual that a judge would allow blurring of multiple witnesses this way for this type of testimony, explaining some some interactions w def't's as a child (apparently no actual autism diagnosis ).
How many wit's so far?

I know judges have discretion to allow this in limited circumstances, to protect witness privacy/identity, e.g., for SA vic's or for children testifying.

Seems there must have bn a motion to blur that prompted that ruling. and an objection.
Can anyone enlighten me about the judge's basis for blurring?

And some witnesses' last names not being revealed? What???

I will go out on a limb, and just assume that the judge agreed to the blurring of multiple witnesses at their request. They all most likely did not want the recognition of testifying on this monsters behalf. And, due to the appeal aspects of a death penalty case, the judge allowed all to be blurred who did so. The court record has the full name of each witness testifying.
