The judge, coughing, before excusing the jury until tomorrow, said "before I choke to death."

How, how, how could he say something so imappropriate when the victim died by strangulation?????

I'm beyond appalled.

After all of the trials he must have experienced over his life time, he is probably numbed by most of what he hears in the court room. I’m sure he felt embarrassed by his expression the minute he said it.

I did not watch the grandmother's testimony. Did she go into any of TH's proclivities or oddities, or family history of proclivities or oddities that may have helped answer the question of what she meant by the remark "I know how you get" after she asked him about doing anything weird to Athena?

I agree, that statement was very telling, imo. He said to her that due to the medicine he takes, it causes him to have a “low libido”. And yet he had raped two young women in the past and his “fiancé” claimed that they had sex on the night Athena went missing.

Oh, that’s pretty interesting. It was shocking when they showed the shed he lived in, next to his Mother’s house. At first I thought it was an abandoned building filled with years of trash inside and then to see a bed in there!! I couldn’t believe he lived in there.

I’m so over hearing about the penny-pooping, coke-snorting loser who sang Jingle Bell Rock as he brutally tortured and killed an innocent 7 year old who was excited for Santa to bring her Barbie dolls.

I’m beyond pizzed that they’ve attempted to diagnose him with ASD with no proof, and worse yet - with zero link between ASD and MURDER. It is a complete disservice and affront to folks who have ASD.

The only bright side in all of this is that TH committed this heinous murder in a state that allows for the harshest penalty available.

Crossing my fingers that the jury is as disgusted as I am and does the right thing.

Let's hope CPS is helping them with rehabilitation or something. I can't imagine that the "shed" has heating, or plumbing.

They also talk about TH's brother and maybe a relative of TH's will testify for state rebuttal. I like listening to the WFAA commentators, they don't hold back!

So, victim impact statements will happen after the jury deliberations? Maybe I am misremembering previous trials, but I thought impact statements are normally given before the penalty is decided - am I wrong about that?

Seems the jury, having heard the audio and a week of everything there is to know about TH in tth grade and from a slate of experts paid to return a forensic finding of ASD, ought to hear how TH's crimes impacted the people in Athena's world.

It's seems wrong to disclude them until after.

I don’t know about Texas but in the Arizona case of Justin Rector who murdered little Isabella Grogan-Cannella the defense had to petition the court for funds for every service. It was originally a death penalty case but after years of delays he finally pleaded guilty in exchange for LWOP. But a lot of money was spent on ridiculous fees in the preceding years.

I’m still not clear why TH didn’t do similar via a plea deal to eliminate the death penalty.
