TX - Austin Metcalf - 17 - fatally stabbed at track meet, 2 April 2025

Going back years ago to the OJ Simpson killing of his wife/friend. Outcome known from just observing jury. Same could happen here.

I don't know. Texas ain't California. And the issues in California were completely different. That was right after the "Rodney King" riots, and literally, Los Angeles was waiting for the verdict in OJ Simpson trial, and no one wanted more problems.

We don’t have that baggage with this case right now. And Karmelo Anthony ain't OJ Simpson.

Several items:

In the state I live in, if the incident (alleged crime) appears to be a felony, a grand jury must meet to return an indictment, “true bill” or state there’s not enough evidence to indict.

Granted, this is hind-site & old school & not knowing all the facts, but it seems like the prime time to understand/help KA would have been when he had the knife at school. I can’t help but think because he was a good student & athlete, he may have been given a break instead of help. Maybe the track incident wouldn’t have happened. Now he is being told he is an innocent party, who acted in self defense. It sounds like a bunch of mind games BY ADULTS to me. I don’t think this will end well for him either now or in the future.

So what will KA get as punishment? To control the Go Fund Me group guesses are minimal.
For starters... I hope KA gets tried as an adult and ends up with LWOP. A life for a life, even though that doesn't bring Austin back. It was a senseless, reckless, and evil act for which he needs to be held fully accountable as it definitely was 100% NOT self defense in any way shape or form IMO.

Texas justice may allow LWOP, but his age may be a consideration. I won’t say look at the Menendez Case (CA) where one of the “kids” shot the mom in the face at close range. 🫤

Great point in your last sentence, agree! But I don’t think the “mind set” was something new for KA. Or that he was a great kid prior to this situation.

His actions prior to the murder, indicate a sense of entitlement. Otherwise it wouldn’t have occurred, he would have either never been in that tent to begin with, or simply left when asked.

Just because he had the knife, doesn’t mean he had to use it. To me this indicates premeditation. But supposedly, he and Austin didn’t know each other? At this point, he looks like a punk that intentionally created a situation, which he was prepared in advance to react violently too, JMO.

Agree . . . He even told the police it wasn’t alleged, he stabbed him.

This case is reminding me of the case against "Trezell West", who killed his adopted sons, Orrin and Orson. The police kept the investigation very quiet. No one even knew there had been a Grand Jury convened. Everything was done slowly, meticulously, it seemed like nothing was happening, until all of the sudden, they were charged and arrested.

This case is different, of course, as we have the victim's body, tons of witnesses. Even video of the incident. But no hearings scheduled, nothing to follow. So, I think that means a lot of work is being done, quietly, no fanfare. Until it dumps on KA like a ton of bricks. (I hope).

if he is a good a student as has been reported he may have already earned enough credits to graduate. He is an athlete. Probably had an eye towards college and a potential sports scholarship. I would not find it surprising if he already had the requisite credits even though the school year wasn't finished. His last semester was likely just all about the extracurriculars and padding his college apps with those activities.
He’s going to have a long, long time to remind himself of all that. Incredible.

No news on a court date and no release of the videos the police confiscated. Its been 1.5 months.
Isnt that unusual for the US, where high profile court cases are like big cinema?

Disgusting statement from the Anthony family mouthpiece.

Jeff shares his viewpoint on the matter in this story also.
I'll take your word for it. I can't stand to read what he spews out. That guy is reprehensible and I sure wish folks would stop calling him "minister". He's NOT a minister, he just uses the title since he fancies himself a minister of social justice.

Jeff Metcalf, the father of the victim, voiced concern about the lack of transparency and communication.

“My son doesn’t get a diploma. So, there’s part of me that says maybe Mr. Anthony shouldn’t get one either.”
