TX - Austin Metcalf - 17 - fatally stabbed at track meet, 2 April 2025

I thought the large fundraising site(s) were supposed to remove funds created for people charged with a crime?
The one site that must not be named has that rule. I believe GiveSendGo does not.

Not necessarily. I read an article, there is a picture of the perpetrator, dressed up for church, and the victim looks like a scary dude.

Media, playing games again.
It goes to show that someone can create their own business and still be dumb as rocks. Her money to waste I suppose.

this CEO made an assumption that shows her own bias. She then posted on SM her opinions as if they were fact and now the internet is running with it at breakneck speed. I have a friend. She is sharing all the fake news about this case she can get her hands on and is very upset because she thinks KA is being persecuted because of his skin tone. I have had to sit on my hands and not correct her with the actual facts of this case. It is awkward.

I hate this new age where everyone and their grandmother is a detective and facts have left the building in favor of whatever narrative someone wants to push. Yes, we've always had that but in recent years it has gotten so so so much worse. JMO

Some have discovered there's a type of clout in victimhood.

oh snap, I knew there was a fake coroner page post re Austin's COD and I knew that some random woman has pushed the narrative that KA was allegedly bullied in comments beneath funding sites. But I had no idea hoaxers had created a fake Frisco PD page and posted even more phony facts. This case is already a nightmare of rumor and false info and it's only just begun. very stupid.

“Beware of those taking to social media to deliberately spread misinformation, hate, fear and division,”Frisco Police Chief David A. Shilson posted on X., stating someone called the incident a “mutual combat altercation” after Metcalf “sucker punched” Anthony.

A police report, however, stated that Metcalf grabbed Anthony, who was allegedly sitting under a tent designated for Memorial High School students.

Metcalf was a junior football star at Memorial, while Anthony attended Centennial High School. The affidavit stated that Anthony reached into his bag upon being told he was sitting in the wrong area.

A witness reported hearing him say, “Touch me and see what happens,” before reaching into his bag.

The chief added that the same fraudulent account claimed Metcalf also smashed Anthony’s phone “onto one of the bleachers.”

Just SMH. Hoping a bit of time and thought will make this horror make some sort of sense for LE and perhaps other authorities.
It just never stops, and things in general seem to be getting worse. SMH. So many people hurting.

The best known one does. This one apparently does not.

I was under the same impression, but maybe the creator of the campaign just worded it very carefully to skirt around that? Not sure, I haven't actually looked but it wouldn't surprise me.
Seriously, you should check it out. Just go to the website and type "Karmelo" into the search engine.

ETA: We should flood the website with reports. I suspect they don't care who makes a fundraiser, as long as they get their cut, and 2.7% of 270K (that is not a typo) is a big chunk o'change.

The Daily Mail link said she was "owner and CEO of several financial help businesses." I bet local authorities are investigating.

I couldn't find anything on Google.

The police report is interesting. It sounds like the perpetrator wanted to start a fight. He went to the opposite team's tent. He refused to leave after being asked. He then told the victim to "Touch me, see what happens". And told the victim to "Punch me, see what happens". The victim did push the perpetrator out of the tent. And the perpetrator stabbed him.

Plenty of witnesses. The perpetrator volunteered information that he had stabbed the victim. He was not questioned by law enforcement, aside from his name.

In NO world is a CHILD supposed to bring a knife to a track meet. I just do not understand WHY the killer gets a Go Fund Me page with that amount of $... can someone help me understand this madness? Or am I in the Fn Twilight Zone?

A little background on the crowd funding sites. The original site that everyone knows about is left-leaning and was a thorn in the side to many on the right because it would shut down any funding for those accused of a "crime" during events due to covid restrictions, etc... The biggest issue came when they dropped Kyle Rittenhouse's fund. Many on the right felt that KR was being falsely charged (ahem...he was acquitted...) and it was unfair to deny that right to have help fighting his case. So GiveSendGo emerged as the site more open to funding whoever you like. I mean, I wouldn't give money to KA, but this is America and I feel if people want to give their money to someone, they should be free to give it to whomever they wish. JMO.

I guess I don't have a problem from a moral stand point about people fundraising for attorney fees. Legal representation is expensive and a murder case is several hundred thousand dollars for a single private attorney. I think people can be easily misled about what a case is about and may be foolish to donate, but that is a different matter. There are some ethical considerations for an attorney about third party payors, that have to be taken into account. But I am open to new ideas on paying for representation. But it is a problem if sites ban certain legal fundraising and not others.

I went to the givesendgo site and entered his name. Am I counting right? There are 21 fundraisers set up for him on that site?!?!?!

This gives the business owner much publicity for a few dollars.

If so, that sounds like mostly scammers, and the website can't be bothered to care. What an unethical fundraising site. Happy to make a buck from scammers and alleged criminals. My opinions only.

Most of them are probably fraudulent, and inspired by the incident.
