Fundraiser
@mickey2942. Thx for link to today's dailymail story just above.

A quote:
"A donation page for the teen's legal defense has received more than $450,000 as of Thursday, with many donors claiming he is the real victim in the killing.
"Anthony's attorney Michael Howard said, regarding the money: 'It would be disingenuous to say there isn’t money... But it is not a bond fund. This family needs to be able to survive.' "

Gotta agree w atty, about "disingenuous to say there isn't money."

Yes, survive. For how long?

The campaign page states, it was created by the family & will be received by the mother.

IDK.

From the G_ S _G_ fundraising campaign page, w ibm:
"Goal: USD $500,000
"Campaign created by The Anthony Family
"Campaign funds will be received by Kala Hayes

"Purpose of the Fund
"While legal defense is a critical part of this journey, we want to make it clear that this fund is not solely dedicated to legal expenses. The funds raised will also support a range of urgent and necessary needs that have emerged as a result of this situation, including — but not limited to — the safe relocation of the Anthony family due to escalating threats to their safety and well-being, as well as basic living costs, transportation, counseling, and other security measures."

It appears to be a good opportunity for the social/political activists suddenly in his life, after he murdered another kid. I don't think he's getting good advice at all, I think he's being used as a pawn in someone else's game. And it's repulsive to watch.
I said the same thing, others outside the Anthony family have agendas they want to grandstand. This is their opportunity and they are seizing the day.

When I think about it within this context, maybe his parents who are making all these decisions for their son are being victimized too. They are desperate to protect him.

I only listened to part of what his (step?) mother said today, and to me it sounded much more like she was desperate to make excuses & look elsewhere to lay blame for what he did. Which under the circumstances, should be at least a little understandable.

That said, I do think they are also being shamelessly taken advantage of by this social activist character. This insane thing these days in finding a type of clout in victimhood is a very, very real thing. Likes, clicks, shares, follows, donations, support, etc.

Regarding the press conference - We don't know what Austin's father was there to say. Based on his past statement about forgiveness, it's more likely that he was there to call for a stop to the rhetoric and for people to stop threatening the elected judge.

I said the same thing, others outside the Anthony family have agendas they want to grandstand. This is their opportunity and they are seizing the day.

The man speaking at the press conference is "Minister Dominique Alexander, president of NGAN".

This is his background, (from a local paper): "Not long after he was arrested for injury to a child causing severe bodily harm, he got into trouble for forging a check, leading police on a high-speed chase, stealing a car and falsely claiming that a car was stolen." Dallas Activist Dominique Alexander Sentenced to Prison

It seems that they have an interest in continuing to fan the flames.

And now (per the presser), the parents are blaming the Frisco ISD for the deadly violence by their child!

It's the School's fault for not canceling the track meet when rain was forecasted?

I must renew my concern for this youth who I doubt has ever been held accountable. JMO
THIS!!! I was stunned and couldn’t believe my ears. Then it got even worse when they spoke about how wrong the district was to expel the murderer just prior to his graduation. FFS, they have zero sense of reality. I’m curious where the funding for his organization comes from? They have their own private team? Is that what do, private security?

It wasn’t in his best interest to go to the pressor, certainly should have left when asked. I understand the emotions involved, but hope Mr. Metcalf doesn’t let himself get dragged into the mud pit.

The best course of action for the Metcalf family is not to give the Anthonys any ammunition. They’re already doing a fine job of torpedoing themselves through their spokespersons. IMO.

I wonder if Alexander knows JP Miller (South Carolina)? Sound like birds of a feather.

Reading this morning that the family and friends of KA have set up a website selling and promoting these "Free Melo" t-shirts with his face on it. This is absolutely disgusting.

ot: ✝️ May Austin's Family and friends find some peace and comfort this Easter weekend while reflecting on Jesus's sacrifice and his victory over death. Happy Good Friday and Easter weekend to my Christian friends. May you be blessed 🙏

ITA In the video of him being escorted out, AM's father appeared understanding and peaceful and not at all angry FWIW. I have a feeling that he just wanted to represent his murdered son at this event since he cant speak for himself anymore... and nothing more. moo

That won’t go over. Very. Well. At. All!! Moooo TEXAS y’all

As a side note, this jogged my memory about a young man that was my friend in middle school. I was bussed in from a very rural area to school. There weren’t many country folk at this school. Anyway his name was Michael. I recall his last name as well. He gave me nightmares for years and harassed me to no end even after I left the school!! When I started beating him in track he started getting violent and telling me his daddy told him all about white ppl LOL! He called my house in the middle of the night on the wkends and told my parents I was in the streets etc while asleep. He caused me so many problems for over four years all because I suddenly got better than him and beat him by a few seconds. He was a total wuss.

Anthony's attorney Michael Howard said, regarding the money: 'It would be disingenuous to say there isn’t money... But it is not a bond fund. This family needs to be able to survive.'

'Every Texan has a right to defend themselves when they reasonably fear for their life. Self-defense is a protection that applies to each and every one of us,' Howard said. 'There are two sides to every story.'

Howard said he is not ready to disclose why Anthony brought a knife to the track match.
Slain teen's father is KICKED OUT of presser for accused killer

BBM translation: We haven't yet come up with a reasonable explanation for that - still working on it.

So... we're supposed to believe that it was the rain that made KA decide to bring a knife to a school track meet and enter a Team tent that was not his own... rather than contact an authority figure if he was having an issue with another student. And it's the School districts fault for not pre-canceling, instead of waiting to see if the rain would let up...

Got it.

Good grief. This is telling. Rain delays are just a part of outdoor sporting events. If there is no lightning or heavy downpours, the show goes on or at least has a slight delay.

Saw this earlier this morning and it is heartbreaking. Why does our society consistently seek to split ourselves into two? This is 2025. Enough already! As someone who is 100% in the corner of the victim and his grieving family, even I can reserve judgment to let the court system play out. I understand there is video, lots of witness statements and plenty of evidence to determine what exactly happened under that tent that dreadful day. Of course, KM deserves his day in court, and I look forward to hearing the evidence. But as a self-defense case, the burden is now on KM to prove it was in fact self defense.

I see so many people falling into the trap that people who never met either of these boys need to join sides and attack each other because of race, It disgusts me how low our society can go. In my deepest heart, I know that I would feel exactly the same as I do right now even if the races were reversed. I don't care and I don't think race is a factor. What I see is a kid with the world in front of him have his life end in a tragic and horrific way. I see his family, his twin brother, suffering in such great pain. I also see another kid with the world ahead of him, make a decision that would forever alter the course of his own life.

for anyone interested in what the weather was like that day (ETA you know, since the minister of justice made a point of asking the press to look at that day's weather)

Dallas, TX Weather History | Weather Underground

It was cloudy, warm, with a couple of brief periods of light rain. One just before 9am and the other between 10:50 am and 11 am.
