I was at SXSW not a lot of wigs this year. The fashion has been very dressed down lots of blue jeans, summer dresses this year. People tend to wear wigs out at night not during the day and going into official places where it would create alarm. I still think he stands out.
He must have known this?
I had to mail a pkg for work once in a black wig, they would NOT allow me in USPS until I removed it. This was in Seattle. No sunglasses, no hats, no wigs. Seattle maybe far more strict.

Whatever the case. I am glad he was dumb enough to wear it. A baseball cap alone would have been a better disguise.

Omg. Okay. Semantics.

There was a huge film and music festival going on in Austin. It wouldn’t have been completely ODD that someone in a costume was mailing a package.

ETA: Obviously most people would call police...especially given the circumstances....but some might not think much about it.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining Austin is mostly suburban with a small downtown area. You're not going to find any costumes in Sunset Valley, you're just not.

If he shipped from a fedex shipping centre, they are generally franchises. They may offer USPS as a service, but they are not USPS. I can't see a place like that asking to remove anything. I also don't understand how he thought he wouldn't be suspicious and obvious, though. I wonder if we'll ever know his planned endgame.

Exactly. I was at this film and music festival on Saturday and saw a guy with no shirt and a tutu on. If the Fedex worker had said anything he would have looked transphobic (or whatever it's called). Especially in a liberal city like Austin. The way he looked was not weird at all.

Listening to a talk radio and they are saying that all the batteries to the bombs were able to be connected to MAC.

Exactly!
Sunglasses, baseball cap. Simple. The disguise was amateurish, bad, cheap and I'm glad for it.

Since they tracked him by his cell phone pings, you wonder why he didn't use a "burner" phone? Maybe he thought he really fooled them with his disguise at the FedEx store.

When I visited the first time I felt normal like I fit right in, then we went to South Congress I felt dowdy and plain.

I agree it would be very rare. Downtown esp at night- absolutely.
Maybe a punk or goth teen in Sunset Valley but not wearing a crazy wig in daylight.

Law enforcement sources told KUVE that the tipping point in the investigation came on Tuesday at about 9pm after the CCTV footage emerged.

It led police to the suspect's home and allowed them to collect cell phone data that enabled them to track him to his hotel.

Authorities also got information from Google and from the suspect's computer history that confirmed the suspect was looking at information on where to ship devices. Based on that information, police were dispatched to two homes on Tuesday night to check for packages.

The bomber is understood to have used 'exotic' and foreign batteries ordered online from Asia to make the bombs, NBC reports. Law enforcement said the signature trait is what helped them quickly link all the bombings together.

The SIM card and memory possibly would be retrievable. It will take a few days of processing to get a clear picture of who he talked to, if there was a relationship network of knowledge or material assistance. Also, interviews can produce a lot of information for comprehending things like this event when there is corresponding other supporting information available. I suspect the people who get interviewed will also be investigated. It won't be like the movies where the detective closes his note book and simply moves on to the next scene back at headquarters. The investigation may be invisible to the people being interviewed.

tid bits from this article (good article lots of nuance)!

what a strange headline!!

I never have a shirt on inside - ever - why?

what is the implication in the headline?

ah ha

CBS reporting he had another place - that is where he probably made them

'exotic' and foreign batteries ordered online from Asia to make his bomb

website of employer

http://cruxmanufacturing.com/

def looks like roommates setting (more like initial reports of three - several cars in front of where he stayed

Parents house is all american flag in front yard

he was 16 miles out of austin at time of death

Pflugerville police tell us they are evacuating a 4 to 5 block area around Mark Conditt’s house at the request of the FBI. @wfaa @KVUE

Police say Mark Conditt googled several addresses in Cedar Park so they want people to remain vigilant. Be on the lookout for suspicious...

ugh oh

I bet the robot saw stuff

confusing tho

CBS said he had another location -- that picture in DM does not look like where they are now so (just guessing) this is the second bomb making location

Looks like Google has blurred out MAC family home on Google Earth.
