TX - Austin Package Bombs

I do have to wonder if he changed his tactics to throw LE off from his original targets.

I read an article and cant find it now about a past bomber that placed bombs in a smiley face pattern. His pattern so far is a semi circle and I wonder if he is now copying the smiley face bomber that happened years ago.

I think the bomber may be of higher intelligence. This has become a game to him, imo. He wants the police to know they have no clue where he will strike again or who the next victim/s may be. This instills even more terror in Austin since he is spreading out his target areas.

I am not sure what his motive is other than to terrorize the citizens in Austin now since he is not targeting an area or race or a group of people.

Imo, he is on a kill mission and who he harms or kills does not really matter to him. He is looking for easy targets. I feel he will keep the officers guessing, and the next time he strikes the bomb may be even different than the one where he used a trip wire this time to detonate the bomb. I feel the first bombs were the kind of explosives that explodes nails where the shrapnel does tremendous harm or death. Next time he could use a pressure cooker bomb or one filled with high explosives like C4.

IMO, he is going to keep changing the bombs he uses and how he detonates them. He is the kind of 'catch me if you can' bomber and thinks he is much smarter than all of those who are trying to find out who he is.

If he is a loner, which I suspect he is, no one would know he was assembling different type of bombs inside of his own home.

I just pray the camera footage will give the police the break they need to stop this maniac who now has the entire town terrorized which is exactly what he wants.

I was talking to some friends the other day that have a military background, and they believed the person is probably former military due to sophistication of the bombs. I don't know how sophisticated the bombs actually are, but they are saying the tripwire one is more sophisticated than the previous ones. Fort Hood is about an hour away from Austin and is the biggest military base in the world (I think.) I don't know how common it is for serial bombers to change the make of their bombs so much in such a short time - though I can see the reason for changing things up due to people being hyper-alert regarding packages. Even the inside of the bomb was different though - does that usually happen?

My large, tight knit family almost all live in Texas. I am in north Texas. One of my sisters lived in Austin for about three years. A couple of months ago she moved to northern California. I hated to see her move, but I'm glad she is not in Austin now.

I wonder about him disguising his real targets and motive. I think his targets were actually the first victims, the people who attended the same church in Austin. He is now changing his MO, I believe, to use terror as a weapon, to show off his "cleverness", and to throw of LE from the original victims being connected. jmo, though.

I agree, I think that he is very intelligent. I'm concerned that he's going around the perimeter and then, maybe tighten up the circle, until he does something really huge, in the main city, or center, of the circle. Kinda like a target. You move toward a bulls eye.

I live in the Austin area. This passed weekend was also SWSW - a big music event. It could relate to that or the bomber could have just used the timing. The change in bomb styles, has me worried. It's not a big jump, but an odd one. I cleared my driveway before leaving for work. I'm not verified, but am LE (Not with APD) and we are not getting much info. I hate it.

I'm wondering about this location. The first three locations had at least 4 ways to get to the particular street. This one is a cul de sac. Cul de sacs don't have traffic except for residents, visitors, deliveries, etc., so it seems like the perp would be at increased risk of being spotted. And if there's a camera on the cul de sac, there won't be a lot of vehicles to check out as there would be on a typical street.

If it's the address they gave last night, and I may be confused, there are two entrances. He is jumping off the freeway, into the subdivisions, on one end, and has an exit route out the other side. Most have tree lined areas making it difficult to get clear shots of him on video.

Why did Bomber miss a full week? Is that why there were 2 on the same day Monday March 12? Making up for the week prior?
All dates are even numbered dates and day of week are over a "weekend" time frame.

Perhaps the bomber wanted to see what the reaction was. Maybe he wasn't confident he'd get away with it, so he waited?
