Was she going to visit someone she knew, possibly relatively nearby, and she didn't feel the need to bring the phone for such a short errand/trip? This is a pretty vast residential area, I'm streetviewing it now, she just left a vehicle at home, there are not many places I see in close walking distance where she could engage in self-harm and remain missing to this point. A different scenario: it's holiday time, maybe she's feeling sentimental. If she was looking around for something in her car, maybe it was something she wanted to return to someone, something of sentimental value, maybe something someone had given her, or something left behind by someone in the vehicle. OR maybe she accidentally left something of hers when out with someone else, and she's going over to see if that person can locate it. I do think that is probably her in the car image and the shadows are making it look like pants. It's definitely difficult to know for certain, though.
@Friday Fan already mentioned this doesn't seem like a stomping ground for a trafficker. Couldn't agree more on this. That location looks like a very comfortable and sprawling residential area. Cannot picture traffickers roaming around in that area looking for targets (although, I mean, who knows). But she probably did venture out into areas of more concentrated population at her age, and she may have been spotted and tracked.
And how far would she walk? About a mile away from her start point in one direction on Wildhorse Pkway, there is an intersection I streetviewed into, Schaenfield Road at Galm, it's very wooded and industrial looking at some stretches, rusty trailers, etc. Moreover, when I looked up this intersection, it evidently has a lot of vehicular traffic issues. Also, could she have been looking for any kind of medication in the vehicle? Because there's a CVS over near that Schaenfield & Galm intersection, I think There's a Circle K, likely that would be open. But why not drive? Well, if she's a walker anyway, she might have figured she'd kill incorporate an errand into her walk. With that said, though, I'm guessing (?) she went in the other direction on Wildhorse, towards that sports complex that is evidently a hub for the current searchers. There's a park out there, from what I can see. If you keep walking out on Wildhorse Pkway, about two miles from start point, you get to Lost Woods Campground 55 acres. (Of note, too, a vast nature area, Government Canyon, about 25 min drive from the area generally.)
Another idea after seeing this:
The trail left for investigators to follow is confusing. Mendoza Olmos appears to have had her car keys with her when she disappeared, even though she didn’t take the car.
MMM. Why take the car keys if she wasn't taking the car? And they see her rooting around in the vehicle. What if she lost her keys, and that's what she was looking for? She may not have wanted to wake her mother, maybe when Camila goes out of camera view, she is retracing her steps for some reason, to somewhere she had been with the keys last? If the car keys are on the same ring with her house keys and multiple other keys (and they very often are for a lot of people), she might have been starting to see if she could find them on the ground. Just because the last time she drove, she had the keys "there," in the car outside, obviously, doesn't mean they would be "there" in or near the car if there are other rings on those keys and she takes them with her everywhere she goes. But it's probably one of the very first places you'd look. Just hoping she comes home safe. There are many possible scenarios here, and some are nowhere near as grim as others. (apologies on lengthy post)
