Respectfully, we do not know the diagnosis of this individual (or most others) so the more general terms like mental health challenges/issues/struggles/illness/crisis are appropriate and respectful terminology IMO"mental health challenges"?!
I hate the euphemisms that are constantly used in these tragic cases. How about deeply disturbed, or depressed, or desperate?
Was there a breakup??
And on Christmas Eve...no words.
Also, isn't it unusual that a woman will use a gun to commit suicide?
This story is just so baffling.
Sad news indeed. I don't see a source that identifies the body as Camila. Multiple sources, including Sheriff's Office, confirm a body found as stated in your post. I guess we can hear more tonight on Websleuth's YouTubeSad news.
“A body has been found in the frantic search for a Texas teen who mysteriously vanished from her home on Christmas Eve.
Camila Mendoza Olmos, 19, was last seen on a neighbor's surveillance camera leaving her San Antonio neighborhood just before 7am Wednesday, prompting a week-long search as authorities warned she could be in 'imminent danger.'
On Tuesday, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said that a body, along with a firearm, had been found in a field 'very close to Camila's home,' according to My San Antonio News.
The body was discovered around 4:45pm near the Burning Bush Landscaping Company at Bent Cyn and FM 1560, just a few hundred yards from her home in an area of tall grass, according to My San Antonio News.”

My thoughts are with Camila's family as they wait for news of identity.Sad news.

The clothing on the body matched one of the descriptions of Mendoza Olmos’ clothing when she went missing, Salazar said.Sad news indeed. I don't see a source that identifies the body as Camila. I think it is likely that they will identify her by DNA.do they have family members verify if this is her.
there are family members who can, but pretty sure the Sheriff's want to be sure with DNA. Gun found near the body, so that may make visual ID more difficultdo they have family members verify if this is her.
thank you that explains what I saw on the recovery video ... shows family there ... and verifyingthere are family members who can, but pretty sure the Sheriff's want to be sure with DNA. Gun found near the body, so that may make visual ID more difficult
It’s sad that her family kept an accessible firearm once they knew she was depressed. Depressed people tend to tend not to be able to reason well and act on impulse when in despair. When they showed her in all black, self harm jumped to he top of my mind. I wish young teens could know there is life after their sad situation.
Wow, I’m very shocked. But I guess she would have been found sooner if they had found her during the first search there. I just don’t understand the concept of making yourself hard to find and putting your family through that madness on top of what they’ll already experience once you’re found. This has me thrown for a loop… I did not expect that but I did feel like something big was being left out.

The data indicate that suicide by firearm is the main method for both men and women in the U.S. now, so no longer less common. We don’t know what is on the minds of the people who are suicidal. Probably, hell on earth, and in hindsight, she was probably contemplating it for a while. Maybe some of them don’t want to be found, ever? Likewise, on the dashcam video, the person is walking very fast. One wonders, was Camila afraid that she’d change her mind, was she in a hurry to end it all? Hopefully, we’ll never know.
It is less common for a woman to use a gun as opposed to a man, because (allegedly) women care about their look, even posthumously. Yet it is still a large group if we consider all gun-related suicides.
I would stick to, “suicide in the context of mental illness”, for many reasons, including religious ones. JMO.
This is the reason we do not have firearms in our house, emotions run too high especially for teens. Nothing could make me want to own a gun. It’s sad that her family kept an accessible firearm once they knew she was depressed. Maybe not officially identified as her, but the Clear Alert has been discontinued. May be an indicator?Sad news indeed. I don't see a source that identifies the body as Camila.
