San Antonio nonprofit turns to social media to continue search for missing people

Search & Support San Antonio is working with an artificial intelligence engineer to create these videos. Two have been posted so far.

The nonprofit has teamed up with Yuvish Chintaram, an AI engineer, to create these videos. Two have been posted right now, sharing the stories of Diaz and Cecilia Huerta Gallegos. What happened to these two women is unknown, and that is why these videos were created.

Thursday, August 22nd:
*Trial Date Setting Hearing (@ am CT) – TX – Cecilia Huerta Gallegos (30) (missing July 7, 2019, reported missing July 8, 2019 by husband, San Antonio, not found) - *Reyes Huerta Gallegos (36/now 39) arrest & charged (8/24/21) & indicted (11/16/21) & arraigned (11/19/21) with murder (by manner & means unknown to the grand jury). $250K bond lowered (1/14/22) to $200K. Bonded out of jail (1/26/22) @ $150K, on full house arrest/GPS monitoring. Bexar County
Previous charges: 1/13/20: Assault with bodily injury was dismissed as a material witness was missing. Plead guilty to filing a false police report & was sentenced to 6 months on the false report, but it only shows a credit for time served of 132 days - just over 4 months.
Trial was set to begin on 12/8/22 was continued to 3/30/22 but was continued with no further dates.

5/2/24 Docket update: Order for continuance-granted. Bond notice faxed for setting. Attorney notice faxed for setting. Next hearing to set trial date on 5/16/24.
5/16/24 Update: Notice email for setting trial date setting hearing on 8/22/24.

No news articles that I could find but the case is mentioned in this one. It’s about the difficulty of getting a conviction without a body:

According to an arrest affidavit, surveillance footage captured Gallegos entering his home with shovels, contractor-duty trash bags, a chainsaw, and cleaning supplies shortly after his wife’s disappearance.

“Each case has to be looked at individually on how we believe we can prove that the person is actually deceased and how it happened,” Giovenco said.

IMO the case has enough circumstantial evidence to put Gallegos behind bars forever. But a lot depends upon the jury so there’s no guarantee. It’ll be interesting to see if he is offered a plea deal before the trial and if so whether he’ll take it.

In 2021, Reyes Gallegos was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, Cecilia Huertas Gallegos.

A pretrial hearing is expected in February. The case is expected to go to trial during the first half of this year.
