Cedar Park police officers shot; Man remains barricaded inside home with family members | KXAN Austin

CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — Multiple Cedar Park Police officers were shot while responding to a scene where a man barricaded himself inside a home with three people, believed to be family members, on Sunday afternoon.

Cedar Park Police Interim Chief Mike Harmon said in a news conference that three police officers were shot and were treated at a local hospital on Sunday. All three officers are considered to be in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries. One officer remains in the hospital on Sunday night, according to CPPD.

At last report, the man remains barricaded inside the home with the suspect’s mother, a juvenile and another person.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are assisting with Cedar Park Police. As of 9 p.m. Sunday, the scene remains active.

Interim Chief Harmon said the mother told police her son kicked in the door of the home and was acting aggressive. When officers arrived at the home at 2304 Natalie Cove around 3:10 p.m., they were met with gunfire as they entered the home. That’s when officers returned fire in the direction of the man.

Three police officers shot in Cedar Park, subject barricaded in home
As of 4:30 a.m. (CT), police are asking people who live on Natalie Cove in the Heritage Park subdivision to stay inside their homes as police continue to work an active scene and negotiate with the suspect.

One officer remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A law enforcement official tells FOX 7 Austin that the injuries to the officers include a gunshot wound to the arm, a shot to the chest that was protected by the officer's bullet-proof vest, and a graze wound to the head. The mother is now one of three hostages inside the home. One of the other hostages is under the age of 18.

During a press conference last night, Interim Chief Harmon said police have a history at the residence. He also said the suspect has been using social media, conducting a Facebook Live from inside the home.

Three Cedar Park Police Department officers are recovering after being shot in the line of duty and the man suspected of shooting them has surrendered to police after a long standoff.
