OMG!! Downtown Austin is a damn MESS!!!!!

Shoal Creek running through 6th Street....that is just INSANE!!!!!

Boats in the streets of Downtown Austin, rescuing people! I just cannot believe what I am seeing...I have driven on every single one of those streets, and been in a lot of those businesses! Just not something I ever thought could happen...even with all of the waterways surrounding the area!

More of the 12 missing from Hays County are being identified. The two families and one couple were in the same house, swept off the foundation and held hands until the house hit a bridge & broke in two, according to news that I listened to. A sister of one of the victims had been texting with her just minutes before and was phone interviewed on local news. Just heartbreaking.

In case anyone is interested...that is a zoomed in map on Shoal Creek. If you look to the right, the 4 lane road...and then a stadium. The creek is actually mostly dry...of course, this area was in the middle of a drought when it was taken, but still!

That stadium flooded today - reports at least 6 feet of water on that field!!!

Some reports said the driver was able to get out, but I'm kind of skeptical. I just don't see how he could have gotten out of that alive. I guess it's possible, but not likely. Plus lots of people took video of it, and none of the videos show anyone getting out of the car, and I haven't found any details of how he got out.

I just went on YT to see if there were any comments...

The guy inside is FINE!! Apparently, he listened to the radio the entire time, and lights stayed on too!! Someone said it is a high end Jeep, trail rated, so it was insulated for water...best commercial EVER for a Jeep!!!

Of course, this was the reports on YT, and nothing MSM related. But those are local people on the ground, so...take it or leave it.

Yes, the source I've read also said the driver ("he") was okay. That was good news.

This is officially the wettest May in Dallas' history, now. We spent Mother's Day morning in our storm closet when our city's state-of-the-art tornado sirens jolted me out of bed @ 7 AM. Not the way to wake up, though I did learn that hubby (who was already up) doesn't recognize the difference between our tornado siren and police sirens. So that was good to learn (and rectify).

Our county is one of the 24 in TX that were declared disaster zones by Gov. Abbott today. After looking at the unbelievable flooding in San Marcos & Wimberley this weekend, and seeing Van's tornado damage a week-plus ago, I feel like comparatively we don't really belong on the list (despite some wind and tornado damage and flooding). I'm so hoping for a miracle for the McComb family and others still missing from these storms.

Hubby is supposed to travel there for work tomorrow morning (at Red River and 15th St)...does anyone here know if that is under water? We were just there two weeks ago and I believe it was near a stadium that I think I heard is now under 6 feet of water. But, maybe that is a different stadium...(?)

That is a different stadium...the one that flooded is where some High Schools play. The one you are probably talking about is the track and field/soccer stadium for UT, or the UT stadium itself.

No flooding up there...and most likely, the current flooding will have subsided. It is emptying into Lady Bird Lake now.

*Update* 7:56 pm Flash Flood Warning for Bastrop, Lee, Travis, Caldwell, and Williamson Counties until 12:15 am.
*Update* 7:09 pm Bastrop ISD closed tomorrow Tuesday 5/26. All schools/classes canceled.
*Update* Lake Dam at Bastrop State Park has failed. Anyone in the path along Copperas Creek need to seek higher ground. Eastern Tahitian Villiage Area.
*Update* 6:55 pm Residents of Brushy Creek in WilCo east of FM 685 are being asked to evacuate immediately. There is a shelter set up at the Hutto Middle School, 1005 Exchange Blvd.
