The shopping center was not in the direction of the of her work.
The only way she could have ended up there is if she failed to get in the right lane on Huebner and missed I-10 East.

And the only way she could have ended up being on camera at James Avery is if she had made a left turn unto the
I-10 West Access Rd.
This sometimes happens when people are distracted. She needed to be in the R lane on Huebner in order to get on the I-10 Eastbound ramp.
Once you realized you have gone the wrong direction, you have two options:
1. Go to the turnaround (in this case it is DeZavala)
OR
2. Go straight on Huebner Rd. Make a U turn safely by turning into a parking lot. Go back under 1-10 and take a left onto 1-10 East on-ramp. (However, going straight on Huebner won't go to James Avery)
I often get distracted when I'm in a hurry and tend to drive on "auto-pilot" then I realize I'm heading in the wrong direction. (If her default mode was to drive toward UTSA where she graduated from or Huebner Oaks where she probably liked to shop this happens) However, I correct myself.
Going in the wrong direction is very common around here. You learn to handle it.
Huebner Oaks is on the in I-10 W access road.
Her work and the shopping center are not at ends of the same street. The "street" ends in Jacksonville Florida and Santa Monica, CA.
