I think we are only 2 days in to trial....There will be much more to come. Of course the defense is going to point the finger at someone else....They are desperate..Enrique has been indicted on kidnapping charges. The Grand Jury was privy to alot of evidence we will soon hear about.

LOL but "we" jurors dont know anything about him and we are "hoping to hear from this person" lol

And as a "juror", would you expect to hear from CM's long time, live in boyfriend? I know I would. And would question WHY he didn't testify and how he fits in to the story.

Right but based on the prosecution opening statement there's not much more but that's my opinion. Defense has softballs thrown at in my opinion.

I know they guesstamate on time by various things. Like testimony from ea witness. So there are 2 that are out so that leaves total of 18. Have to go back and look see how many we had so far.

Me too but as a juror, it's not coming together for the prosecution IMO. Moo

Are EA's parents witnesses? Is that why they're not present in court?

They are on the witness list, yes. On that basis, the defense asked - and was granted - for them to be kept out of the courtroom until they testify, asserting that what they heard might influence their later testimony. (In court, they simply refer to such a request as "invoking The Rule" with no further explanation. If you're on the receiving end of such a maneuver and don't know what it means, it can be quite confusing. Families tend to get pissed, if not prepared for the possibility.) That's the one and only way close family of the victim can be kept out of the courtroom at the start, as Texas law mandates that they otherwise be allowed to be there, and even if they are going to be witnesses a judge can rule that he doesn't think it will be a problem and opt to allow them to stay, because they are close family. Texas courts are intended to be as victim friendly as possible.

Later, they could be removed if they create a disturbance of some sort, but since the trial hadn't begun, that was not and could not have been part of the equation. The defense requested, the judge saw it as a legit issue, and he ruled accordingly.

That was just the first 20. Probably the ones they expect to see testify this week. There will be LOTS more with 11 days planned.

Yeah, they haven't even scratched the surface yet. All they have done is to try to lay PART of the foundation to show who CM was, and prove that she was actually abducted (both of which they must take the time to do), plus leave the door ajar for the idea that EA could have done that. They haven't even finished that part of the process yet. You have to lay the foundation first, piece by piece, not just for the jury's sake, but because if you don't do so then you won't be able to get your other evidence in front of the jury. A well-presented case looks simple, but it has to follow a careful sequence.

I know about Christina's family being witnesses but must have missed EA's being on the list too, do you have a link for that please?

My apologies, I misread the question and answered as if it was about CM's family.

The simple answer is no, I don't think they are on the witness list. But since they are probably the most informed of his whereabouts between Sat and Tues, and even their lack of knowledge might be probative as well, that surprises me. Their absence is apparently of their own choosing.

Only 20 potential witnesses were sworn in this week. Can there more sworn in next week?
