IMO we are looking at two completely different things. The pings prosecutors used are regular "handshakes " between the phones and the towers. Our phone pings when we send or receive messages, initiate or receive a phone call and even when our phones are not in use but are powered on. This ensures that we always have a coverage and a tower to go to when we receive or initiate a call or message.

This witness is talking about another sort of record, which contains the routing of data. To data traffic one needs towers who can send and receive data. Which is why he conveniently "forgot" to add the rest of the 4G towers to his map which are towers with the real "handshakes".

I hope the state can clarify this.

Wow. When we heard the state's expert rebut the defense expert, it was almost identical to what you had told us in the post above. Great info. (And pffft on the defense "expert" for trying to pull the wool over the court's eyes by only telling half the story.) Thanks for the heads up.

When a defense has to resort to smoke and mirrors (not being truthful), you know their client is guilty.
