GUILTY TX - Christina Morris, 23, Plano, 30 Aug 2014 - Enrique Arochi kidnapping trial #6

  • #181
Which makes me wonder. IF a body was ever recovered. And IF EA gets a stiff sentence. And IF he lost his appeal on the Agg Kidnapping.

Would the State of Texas go through the expense of a Murder trail for EA?

The point of a murder trial is to give EA the DP for killing CM.

I think a DP trial is inevitable for him, body or no body, unless he negotiates a deal at some point revealing the location of CM. "Lack of body" isn't going to be the obstacle many might think. (If her body was "disposed of" where there's really not a location to go get her, then he's in a real predicament, with nothing to negotiate with.) And the reality is, the state has already done most of the work and gotten most of their case proved for a murder conviction, with the AK verdict.

Just checking thread for first time today and wow, what a let down! All excited for the possibility of a plea, and then turns out it's the judge. Hope he is ok and is able to continue tomorrow. Between his illness, not being able to hear and the flat tire, I do have to wonder if someone busted out a new olive jar!

On top of Judge being ill, so forth. The whole courtroom out to be scanned again, makes me wonder if some idiot called in a thread or they got one some how. Praying that is not the case. But it seemed odd to those in the courtroom reporting. I can see them scanning, just the timing that was strange as well as the attorneys going in and out. Most likely the Family being taken out was to let know about Judge? JMHO

Don't know anything about this but wondering if some of it is to look for "bugs" placed by media to record? Remember Fox news has already ticked the judge off twice.

Oh no! I really like this judge, I hope he's better tomorrow. I had a boss who had a kidney transplant and you do not want to mess around when you're sick. He spread himself too thin and wound up in the hospital for months.

Astute guess. It was indeed a sweep for electronics, monitoring devices, and the like, and is part of the usually unseen pre-trial routine (that today was awry due to the delay in the judge's arrival). Not solely a media issue, however, but also meant to protect each side from the other ignoring ethics and going over the line in order to try to gain an advantage.

Too late to edit, but an added note on the above ...

On further reflection, I can see a possibility of the state deciding to forgo a murder trial, if this jury sends him to the state pen for good. The reason being financial, with a desire to keep from using more county money on trials of this 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 who would be behind bars and going nowhere. OTOH in the same discussion, I can also see them considering the use of a murder trial with a DP possibility as a means to motivate EA to give up CM's location, in exchange for dropping such charges. But no matter what they might do, they will have that DP trial possibility hanging over EA's head like the sword of Damocles, for the rest of his life, with a very strong chance of getting a conviction, if they ever want to pursue it.

Don't think so. I sat next to Scott Sidway and he explained it to me as though that one camera (that the judge was aware of) has something that feeds out to different networks and somehow it was on when it wasn't supposed to be, not like someone secretly recorded, if that makes sense..

Ah....gotcha. That makes sense.

I really don't want to give up hope that although judge was sick, they may of been trying to negotiate...Even if judge has to wait till he feels better to hear it. All the reporters said it wasn't the norm how it was all going on.

Jmho unsure I they were scanned upon first entry or not. The courtroom had been filled for long time. Sounded like they were all sent out, checking under seating and then each person scanned and then let back in and the back row reserved for family which evidently was not that way to begin with. Possible more family wanted in but no where to sit. So empty the courtroom then scanned upon re-entry. Definitely didn't appear to be something that should have been done prior as court would have been in session had Judge not been ill and then had flat tire.

I do too! Poor guy. Yeah, I have a friend that had a transplant too! He had to be SUPER careful about getting sick. Hope he is on the mend shortly.

They were out of courtroom and not in the record yet. Sidebars are recorded by court reporter. But yes it did make everyone curious lol. Jmho

Not sure, but that was 2015, last year. Looks weird how dates almost same on some records as current trip date.

Hope the Judge is okay - he's done so well keeping control of the court and came across really well. I'm sure he wants to see this to the end after investing so much time and energy.

I don't think there will be any plea deals. I think he will take his punishment, because he is still so deleauded that he's getting off with this.

Hope EA has another sleepless night awaiting his life sentence and tells the truth for once in his life .

If they tried him for murder, what would be the additional offense to make it a capital offense? Can they use his AK conviction or would that be not allowed?
