If they tried him for murder, what would be the additional offense to make it a capital offense? Can they use his AK conviction or would that be not allowed?

Yes, definitely. Here's the relevant part of the statute.

Sec. 19.03. CAPITAL MURDER. (a) A person commits an offense if the person commits murder as defined under Section 19.02(b)(1) and:
(2) the person intentionally commits the murder in the course of committing or attempting to commit kidnapping, burglary, robbery, aggravated sexual assault, arson, obstruction or retaliation, or terroristic threat

What happens if EA is too ill to leave the infirmary this morning?

I wasn't aware he is sick. But if he is too ill to go to court, they would have to delay the resumption of the trial until he is able to be there.

I hope this simply means he is under suicide watch. I have no idea if this jail uses the infirmary for suicide watch, it's just my first impression upon seeing this information.

Hopefully the realisation that he's not getting away with this and his guilt is making him ill. I wonder if this is his blood pressure again like he said he was ill during the trail.
