Another one - I've emailed to see if the 'specimen' angle has been r/o. I suspect a lot of people would read the first reports and think this is a lower priority case unless we can confirm it was incorrect.

No MP of Asian heritage in the TX MP index. Since Conroe is in eastern TX, I looked in LA & only came up with one match:

@Melt71, did you ever get a reply as to whether these remains were thought to be an anatomical specimen?

I missed this when it was posted a long time ago and just checked my emails.
Namus did respond, without an answer to the question and simply saying that LE chooses what information can made available to the public for investigatory reasons. A bit unhelpful but I guess they are not permitted to say if a determination has been made.

I agree. Some soldiers eventually settled down and felt sorry for taking the body parts and went on to bury them. And sometimes a veteran passed away or moved and his belongings were thrown away or sold. i can imagine a heir finding the bones Uncle Joe always bragged about at the campfire. Heir didnt want to be involved but stay respectful without stirring up trouble and buried the remains

I'd like to think that some soldier didn't take a body part with soft tissue attached, then somehow preserved the soft tissue component along with the bones for years and years before burying them. But who knows?!
