Details of Disappearance
Bratton was last seen in Greenville, Texas on July 24, 1986. His cream-colored two-door 1977 Chevrolet Nova was discovered abandoned in Delta County, Texas sometime afterwards. Bratton has never been heard from again. Few details are available in his case.

I have the impression that this young man died by suicide... is the area where he was found or nearby areas known for suicides? Or maybe that's not even a hidden dark wooded area? Maybe it hung somewhere and the weather elements and animals did the same? Depression is a terrible thing.
