Wow, you guys have been busy today. Sorry I wasn't on, we got a new wireless router and that thing turned out to be a huge wait of money!

Our Mother was only married once and did not take her husbands name-so she has always been Laurel Ann Merryfield.

Our Grandmother did have family in KY. It is my understanding that they have all passed now.

Hi MissieMt, Wireless routers can be a big pain in the butt - I run a 300mbs router here and have a number of computers hooked up w/o any issues but they can cause butt pain for sure. Thanks for the middle name for your mom - is that picture on photobucket of your mom (the one of the woman holding the baby?).
Your grandmother's last name was Varner wasn't it - did you ever have a chance to confirm this?
Yes, JulesSleuther got us going a bit with a few leads that we are trying to run down the foxholes as Kat says. We are going to keep looking and with all the associated names/other names it makes for a messy trail - but we don't give up easily.

Sorry guys I could not get online at the hotel last night! I did a search for 1974-1976, and nothing popped out. I saved all the names in a word doc, which I will try to post. Something definitely popped out for me for 1973 though, and I want to research this person much more, particularly because they once lived in Killeen, they seem to have had "several" names, and the middle initial is M.

I then did a search for the Lawrence person who is "related" and he also lived in Killeen, TX and appears to have been in the military. Here is the places he is listed as living:

I am very familiar with many of these NY and PA places, and I can tell you that they are small towns and not near military bases. Liverpool is the closest to a larger city, Syracuse. His related persons are the Deanna, and also a Audrey Labarre, who is 33. Any of these names ringing a bell Missie?

I lastly did a search for the Darcey Vanderpool and these are the names that came up for her:

These are all names for the same person--she certainly seemed to have several names??? None of her cities listed are Killeen though. Coincidence?

Jules which of the public databases did you use for the search on D. S. Vanderpool?

I searched intelius and did not see those as alias' or connected to D. S Vanderpool.

In the obit, it I read it as follows:

Darcey B. would be the daughter of S. and A. Vanderpool. A. Vanderpool is married to Sally. Sally is the daughter of the man who had died and for which this obit was written.

I am thinking that this Darcey and Deana Vanderpool are two different people.

At Intelius for Darcey V., we don't see the other names connected but we do see A. Vanderpool listed as a possible relative. The towns associated with this Darcey V. are all in PA with one in NY. No other surnames listed in association with this Vanderpool.

We do a search for Darcey B. we don't see any other names in association. All towns listed as previous residences are in PA.

We do a search for Darcey S. (hits come back as Darcey Sue S.), no relatives listed, all towns shown are in PA.

We do a search for D. Hurley and nothing matches with any of the above.

Can't find a D. Fazio with the first two names known to be used.

I think that many times these databases have a lot of errors in them. Also, I have never used peoplefinder or usasearch (i think that's what it's called) because for some reason they appear to be even more erroneous.

I am going to focus on the first set of names in your post.

The Bidlack's and Vanderpool's are obviously related by the obit and by Elepher's screenshot. I can't find a connection anywhere between these Vanderpools and other family to Killeen TX or the Vanderpool we are looking at that married in Killeen.

I believe it was peoplefinders.com that I used. The original posting I did listed Darcey as a related person, but when I did a peoplefinders.com for Darcey, it listed Deana as an associated name. They could just be relatives. Here is what I found:

Just to send you in another direction... I did a google search for Deanna's + Hurst, TX, and I came up with a possible lead...I hesitated to post it here, but I am unsure about this one, but I will let you guys decide...

It appears "her" birthday is Feb 15th. She appears to have blueish/brown eyes, which you can see when you look through her photos... Distinctive eyes, similar nose...

What do you guys think? My biggest fear is that we are running in circles and overwhelming Missie with all our info, and maybe none of it is helping...Please tell us to slow down or go in a different direction if you want Missie. What do you think we should be working on?

You know, I have done almost every search I could, and I just do not see any Deanna Merryfield living in TX. I really wonder about the supposed sighting of her in 1995. Could a "friend" have impersonated her?

As far as someone impersonating her in the 1995 sighting-they would really be pushing the envelope if they went as far as to get tattoos of the merryfield name on their body.

The facebook pic of the lady holding a baby is our Mom. As you can see she was very much in the grips of cirrhosis. That pic was taken in late June 2000.

Ahhh Kat. I have no earthly idea, honestly!
When we first started this here, I thought for sure she was dead. I would spend day after day at the doe network, searching the uid's because I was certain I would find her there. Until Sgt.D found the info from 1995 I was still convinced. Now I have no earthly idea.
I don't think she stayed in Killeen for any amount of time after she went missing. Back them Killeen was still pretty small, according to some stats it has almost doubled in population. There weren't nearly as many soldiers at Ft.Hood. My Mother, Roy and extended family knew A LOT of people. We usually didn't get away with much without them knowing. If she were there, somebody would have told somebody and it eventually would have gotten back to us.

Thank you Missie, I wanted to let you know if you haven't been here in a while the stats are misleading.

Since I have been here (9 years this month) you can drive from Copperas Cove all the way through to almost Temple and not hit any undeveloped land along the HWY.

Let me give you an idea:
Currently Fort Hood has an estimated population of between 54-57,000 Soldiers. Then add in their family members, the civilian employees...etc.

Then add Killeen plus Fort Hood (known as a metropolitan area combined) and you have over 330,000 people now.

That's not counting what is now considered all one area because when you drive through town you can start at Copperas Cove and drive all the way through to Nolanville and not even know you have changed towns. It's that built up.

I would wager to say, we are now a combined city that has spread out so much that we are well over a half million people.

Yes, very different from the '90's.

Would you mind to share with me your memory about the family that was located in Cave City KY?

Also why do you think Deanna might have gone there?

I'm originally from KY (haven't lived there in 17 years) but I am very familiar with Jefferson, Hart, Grayson, Butler Counties and including to the West Union and Henderson. I have and had family all down through there and spent a lot of summers in those areas.

Ah Missie - don't worry about us here on WS - please look after your babies as they are the most important always. We have questions and you have given a lot in the search for Deanna. I thought that might have been your Mom holding the baby - may peace be with your Mom.
I have not looked at any UID's for Deanna - I don't want to believe she has passed so want to look at any and all alternatives first. Deanna is very beautiful and I think she is still alive but probably under a different name. There is no explanation for not contacting the family but she may have developed reasons after leaving home - this has happened in other cases.

There is a registration on Classmates for Deanna Merryfield at the Caverna High School - Horse Cave, Kentucky from 1991-1995 but when you click on the information, it points to a V Brundidge who lives in Killeen, Texas. This may be somebody who is looking for Deanna, but it is odd when you click on the Deanna Merryfield is goes to V Brundidge profile with pictures and believe me the pictures look nothing like Deanna.

Just finding this very strange - don't know what to make of it. Here is a screenshot of the Caverna High School with Deanna's name:

Oh Kat, that is horrible - you are wandering around in the dark. I use CV Gadget quite a bit, Classmates, and White Pages (full of errors and typos). CV Gadget is good because it searches everything and gives it back to you in one page.

Yes you are very correct, there is not a resemblence and there isn't anyway that it is Deanna.

From Killeen, Texas to Cave City, Kentucky is about a 13 hour drive. Main cities along the way are:

Waco
Dallas
Texarkana
Little Rock
Memphis
Nashville
Bowling Green
Cave City

Maybe we should pay some attention to the main places enroute from Killeen to Cave City to see if we can find anything. The places that sort of stand out for me are Dallas, Memphis and Nashville as places where somebody could go unnoticed for a bit of time. Deanna is shown in one picture as having a Bon Jovi t-shirt on, and I checked for Bon Jovi concerts for 1990 and he really wasn't doing anything at that point as his band had just disbanded.

Just thinking out loud and wondering if I was runnning when 13 years old, liked music - where in the heck would I head in 1990. What was the hottest music for 13 year olds in 1990. New Kids on the Block was absolutely the hottest music for this age group. So, where were New Kids on the Block in 1990;

Was Deanna perhaps headed to either Atlanta or St. Petersburg to a New Kids on the Block concert? Leaving at 3am in the morning means Deanna had some place in mind but where? Where was she headed?

I was thinking about the allegeded sighting/run in with LE in 1995. There was a time when I was pretty young (early 20's) with some friends and we were at a park and were stopped by police because apparently we were not supposed to be in there after dark. The took all of our names, id's(if we had it, some didn't and in that case ask for name, SSN, etc) and ran our names through their registry to see if any of us had warrants and let us go. I suppose it is possible if it was Deanna and she did not have ID the cop made a verbal note when radioing back to the police station that she had tatoo's something like 'teenage female, says her name is Deanna Merryfield, has tattoo on her neck, etc'. Just an idea.
