The tough crowd Deanna ran with was typical teenager kind of tough...but they did start a little earlier than teen years. Sneaking out, fighting, stuff like that. I never saw her use drugs, but marijuana is a possibility.

... and obviously you are right, there is a Manor Middle School in Killeen, I totally missed it. However, the Coco on MySpace could be the friend we are looking for. Manor isn't too far from Killeen and the age is right. I was also informed that Coco might have been African-American, so some stuff about this girl fits. CoCo is not that common of a name, I wouldn't think anyway. I sent the girl a message anyway just in case... you never know.

KTCan, It seems we think alike at least in this case. My post that is just before yours says almost the same things in some respects. Oh, and I never said this before; but, I love your siggy. It is funny, and I smile when I read it every time..

Wow, it would be good if CoCo is the same CoCo that Deanna was friends with. Please let us know if you hear back from her(fingers crossed icon).

Okay - look at those two Myspace pages again - the one for Skip White and the one for Coco. They both have 1 friend - TOM. They have to know each other, right? And they have Tom as a friend in common. Or....is Tom on everyone's page?

Okay - what are the chances that Skip and Coco would have the same friend on their myspace? I bet these are Deanna's friends from High School.

Salem - FYI... Tom is everyone's friend on MySpace as he is the guy who created it. When you set up an account Tom is automatically your number one friend until you delete him or move him down on your friends list. The fact that Skip & CoCo have only one friend, that friend being Tom, just means that they set up an account and haven't really done anything with it. Not sure if we'll get reponses back from these two as their last log-in date is a while back.

I've found another CoCO on MySpace who is 30 years old, lives in Killeen and graduated from Ellison High School in 1994!!!!! Her last log-in date is today, April 15th, so she is definitely a current user. I sent her a message so keep your fingers crossed.

Just a friendly piece of advice. You want to be careful duplicating work such as contacting a person. We have had that happen on cases in the past and sometimes the people get very upset. It looks like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. It is important to share in the thread if you are going to make contact with someone and to also check to see if someone alreay has before doing so.

I just passsed my test to be a Case Investigator (end goal, PI, have to work under PI for 3 yrs because I don't have CJ degree) and that never came up in my training....it makes SO much sense. In the little experience I have, as soon as I read your statement, I was like, YES! That makes so much sense, if that makes any sense

I am really just doing the CI/PI thing to learn more how to help on these missing and UID cases. Some of the investigative skills of the people on WS/internet knocks my socks off. I am good at the organization and the planning...stumbling a little in the investigation part so I am trying to learn more.....I am told my biggest asset is my passion for this, the other stuff, I can learn!

It has been my experience as a Mysoace user that if I don't recognize the person sending me the message I won't even open it. My reasons for this are that there is a lot of hacking and stuff like that on Myspace and I've opened some pretty ex-rated messages by mistake before,ewww.
Anyways, your advice is good and I will keep it in mind.

Missie - Your idea to have a picture of Deanna when sending these messages via MySpace or Classmates is a great idea. I only sent out a few messages on MySpace last night; if you would like me to continue sending messages on MySpace and use the photo you have provided on this forum just let me know, or, if you want to send the messages directly from Deanna's account yourself let me know that as well so we don't duplicate. Either way is fine with me, whatever I can do to help.

I know what you mean about phony messages, phony senders, phishing, etc. on MySpace but I think most people will at least click on my message to read it once they see the title and/or if they view my page and realize I'm not trying to con them into answering surveys or sell them a weight loss product.

Here is the message I sent out to both CoCo's (of course I changed it up a bit when I sent it to random people who show up as having attended the same school's as Deanna):

My name is Karen and I volunteer with a group of people that works to find missing children and adults. Please know that this is not a spam message. I am currently working on the case of Deanna Merryfield who went missing from Killeen, TX in July of 1990 and I am just utilizing MySpace as one of my search tools. One of the facts that I have come across is that Deanna had a friend named CoCo at the time she went missing which would put you about the age of her friend now. I just thought I would ask if you knew Deanna Merryfield or of anyone in Killeen, TX back in 1989-1990 who may have known Deanna Merryfield or if you have any information at all that might help us in this case.

Nothing you might possibly remember could be too big or too small. It is thought that Deanna was to start her freshman year at Ellison High School in 1990 which would put her graduation class as 1994, possibly 1995. Deanna attended Fairview, Rancier and Manor Middle School before her disappearance.

Absolutely Missie, I will post the links to each MySpace page/person I send a message to in one post after I get several of them sent out. This way we'll keep the posts with the MySpace links to a minimum so people won't have such a hard time searching through this thread if they need to see if a particular one has been covered. Once I see who you've sent messages to I'll start back up and go from there. There are A LOT of people on MySpace that have ties to the Killeen area from that time period that we can message. Again, you never know.

The Lord is working in mysterious ways. Today my husband and I decided to take a break from all of this and clean out our garage to take my mind off of it. I was going through a box that had tons of old pictures, and wouldn't you know it-I found this!:
