Thank you Fairy!!
Right now I have no earthly idea. I keep asking Sgt.D what we can do and he never responds to that.
I feel like I'm back at square one-no clue where to go or what to do. I asked Sgt.D over 3 wks ago where the heck the age progression is, because I thought we were EXTREMELY close to having one that we could print and distribute. We went through three of them very quickly-basically just rough drafts, and I was sure we finally had it narrowed down to what could be a good one, and now.....nothing!!:banghead:
To say I'm frustrated would be a huge understatement.

Hello all Ive spent the last several days reading this thread when I SHOULD have been working (shhhhhhh)

Anyways - bumping to bring it back to the top!

I cant imagine losing either or my siblings and just not knowing - my mother left when I was VERY young - and I still catch myself watching everyone that walks by us to try and see something that screams "Thats your mom"

My support is here!

I wish the police were more cooperative with you Missy! Don't they have a heart? JMO

  • #764
I agree with Julessleuther, whats up with the police not cooperating - Makes me think that theres much more to the "story" -- It always amazes me how not long ago, if someone went missing - sometimes it was a big deal only to a few family members --- disappearances definetly werent as "headline" as they are now --- rather sad....

I agree---do they know more than they are telling Missy? It seems odd to think that they think/know she may have been alive as of 1995 (I thought I saw that in a post Missy made here) but cannot tell Missy where/when etc. If she is alive and does not wish to be contacted, why can't LE tell Missy that? Missy--after all this time and your discussion with LE, what is your heart telling you? What do you think is going on?

This is one story I've followed from the beginning, long before I registered. I keep reading, hoping for good news.

Missy, you and Deanna are in my prayers.

Sorry I haven't been checking in guys.
I don't know why LE is keeping quiet. It seems to me there are no ckecks and balances in this case. I get the impression that Sgt. D is the only one who is working on this case, and now I get the impression that he has lost interest. Last I heard from him he was going to find out what was going on with the age progression. That was about 2 months ago. We were given several "composite" age progressions. Each time we were given one we were asked what we thought needed changed. The 1st one made her look like a man, I wish I was exagerating. The 2nd one made her look like she had eaten her twin, like she was 150 pounds over weight. The third one just needed a very few minor adjustments. We were told they were gonna do those adjustments and then we would have a final age progression....and I've heard nothing since.
Often times I feel like Sgt.D just feeds me something to get me off his back. It's always "I'm looking into such and such or so and so" and then he never says anything about such and such or so and so again. I asked him to question one person in particular and he said he couldn't find them. I found them...in jail. Seriously, if I could find him from 2 states away with just internet access, why couldn't he? Forwarded the info to him and haven't heard anything about it since. Then he was trying to track down their bio-father. I don't know where he was planning on going with that. Their biofather hasn't been around at all, period. He had no communication with them or our Mom. Not one single visit from him-and he expects to find out info about Deanna from him?! I could go on and on with this list of dead ends. To say I'm frustrated would be an understatement.

I know you are feeling discouraged Missy - but don't discount the biodad too quickly. You never know what a teenager, left to her own devices, might come up with. AND you can never be sure how the biodad will react. My sister found my dad when she was a teenager. We had not heard a word from him for many years. Anyway, she found him and went to visit him. They got along great! He NEVER attempted to communicate or see me or my brothers. He figured it was OUR responsibility to get in touch with him. So you see, it could happen. Deanna could have called him, went to visit and either stayed with him or in the general vicinity. It is definitely worth looking into.

Heck, if you know who he is, you could probably look into it yourself.

As always, my prayers are with you and Deanna. Hoping she is home soon!

None of us knew our Biofathers' names until after our Mom's death in 2002 and even still, Amy and I do not know the names of our biofathers (all different). Maybe Sgt.D thought it was something worth looking into, and maybe he is right. I'm not against him leaving no stone unturned, it's the lack of communication that drives me nuts.

Sorry there is still no new info Missy. I looked on the Topix post for Deanna from Killeen, and noone has added to it since 2007, so I posted alittle bump there....

Missie when was the last time that the Killeen Daily Herald did an article on your sister and others that are missing from here?

I remember reading one or more (we've lived here 9 years) but I can't recall the last time I saw one.

I'll write and call and ask if you want me too. It helps to have the missing have articles written about them because it brings the memories to the forefront again for those that lived here during that time.

What details do you have of the 1995 contact? I've read this thread in the past, but have forgotten exactly what it was.

Thanks.

OK---It is time to re-infuse this investigation. I have witnessed so many times here that WS'rs do not take no for an answer or rest on our laurels, so lets put our minds together and figure this out. Missie, when you have the time, could you type a brief timeline of events (or point out where you already did one?) I am going to go back through all the posts, I suggest you all do the same, and lets put together a list of questions/suggestions. One I have right now (and maybe have asked in the past--if so I forgot, I am pre-senile, LOL). Did Deanna have a nickname --something she was called? Also, did we already look into the Deanna that is in Wisconsin?

Deanna Michelle Merryfield, 13, left her home without permission on July 23, 1990, at 3:30 a.m. She was last seen in the 500 block of Dimple Avenue getting into a dark-colored, four-door vehicle with two males, possibly Hispanic. She was 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 115 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes when she went missing.

It's time for KDH to run an article again. It's been almost a year.

I wonder why I can't find Deanna on the Killeen PD website for missing persons?

I'd like to know more about the possible 1995 contact too. I don't recall ever reading where she was. Was she still in Texas? Maybe we should be looking elsewhere....

I seem to remember that Missie couldn't divulge where Deanna was or anything else about the 1995 contact because it would interfere with the investigation.

I wonder why they only list those 2 people on the missing persons section...? What happened to the other people that were listed at one time?

I don't understand that TxBecca. I thought I had looked in the wrong places. There are more missing people than just those two. I think that I'm going to email the KPD and ask why the others aren't listed.
