GUILTY TX - Dr. Bernard Albina for sex abuse, child 🤬🤬🤬🤬, Houston, 2009

  • #21
HOUSTON -- Police are getting calls that could lead to more victims of a prominent Houston surgeon, who they call a child rapist.

The internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon is wealthy and investigators say he used his money as a form of power over his victims.

“In addition to them living there, he has keys to the house so you are living under his roof," explained Harris County Prosecutor Eric Devlin. "He has total access at the time. He almost owns you.”

Authorities indicate some of the victimsÂ’ guardians seem genuinely shocked. Others apparently took the money to look the other way. In those circumstances, criminal charges may be filed for injury or assault by omission.

ItÂ’s unclear if AlbinaÂ’s wife and adult children knew of any problems.

Exactly what I was going to say Nurse. Why did it take so long???? Other victims could've been saved from abuse. And he should have no bail! What a monster!!!!!!!! :furious:

$400,000 bond? Not enough, IMO. Man! I hope this old pervert doesn't kill himself. I want him to live to endure every moment in court, then have to spend the rest of his sorry life in prison with Bubba.

I think perps like this have to be treated far more harshly than the average pedophile-this guy had everything at his fingertips to manipulate both the children and the familys-power (physician), innate trust, access and money. He had the advance degrees and the training to recognize who could likely be convinced to "sell" their child. Doctors, priests and members of the LE/Justice community should automatically recieve a life sentence for this kind of crime simply because they have taken away the ability of these children/adults to ever, ever trust again...they were betrayed by everyone who they were vulnerable too.

God it makes me so ill...

I had a pediatrician my parents took me to when I was about 10-12. Looking back I think this guy was a molester. He did inappropriate things and touching that had little to do with what he was treating. I remember saying something to my father about what was going on and him saying he'd slap me if I ever said such a thing again (!) So I didn't. Typical I think for the 1950's.
We moved and I never saw him again. So this stuff has been around since who knows when.

Agreed-I know someone who had a teacher kiss them in middle school. We never said a word because our parents had a firm belief that teachers were authoritairans and were adults, and you as a student worked around them. Nothing happened after that incident, but I think about it a lot when I read these stories of children being victimized.

I really would like to know why it took two years to get this monster off the street. That truly makes no sense. Once again, I find myself saying the same thing over and over...it's just so sad and sick!

It is not fair to blame the police department for this situation.
They were brought a case that was years old, one person's word against a respected doctor, a doctor who would be backed up by the parents of the victims since they were part of the conspiracy. A case that would/will be defended by a well paid attorney.

Coming in guns blazing and messing up a case that is already complicated due to time elapsed and conspiracy factors would have accomplished nothing to secure safety of other children.

I highly doubt they sat in surveilance vans and watched him bring young boys into his home to be molested. It is not their fault this 12 year old was molested a month ago. It is the fault of the doctor and possibly the 12 year old's parents.

The case is disgusting, but many cases that are brought to light this many years after the fact are not considered to be workable. Lets not shift our anger to the professionals that brought this man to court, and have had become intimately familiar with the details and images of what this "man" was doing.

The doctor is broken and should be put down for everyone's safety, just like a rabid dog. The parents that exchanged their children for money and material comfort.... I can't even begin to verbalize my thoughts about them.

I guess I missed this case. So, I'm assuming this is yet another arrest for Albina?

Doctor Behind Bars on Child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Charges
January 26, 2012

"A Houston doctor is in custody on accusations he not only possessed child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬; he produced it. Bernard Albina, 72, is charged with producing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and possessing it....."

and

"....The three-count indictment against him states Albina was producing child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 as far back as 2003 and had exploited two children to do it. The investigation began when a person said he had been repeatedly molested by Albina over many years. Investigators later found four people who said Albina had sexually exploited them. According to the US Attorney’s Office, Albina paid thousands of dollars, almost $200,000, to those children and, in some cases, their mothers. Authorities, executing search warrants, found images and videos of two children under the age of 10..."

From March 2013:

On Tuesday, Dr. Bernard Albina pleaded guilty to possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

U.S. District Court Judge Lee Rosenthal handed the sentence to the former doctor and also ordered the 73-year-old to pay a $75,000 fine as well as spend the rest of his life on probation once his sentence is completed. Dr. Albina received the maximum sentence that could be imposed.

Just 10 years for ruining young lives and exploiting them in the worst possible way? Not nearly enough although this is probably a death sentence at his age. Evil, evil monster!
