TX - Dr. Mark Hausknecht, 65, Physician to GHW Bush killed in bicycle drive-by shooting, Houston

Something stirring at the suspect’s house tonight attracting LE attention.

Law enforcement presence growing outside alleged killer's home

I would hope/assume they cleared the attic and so forth when they raided the place at 4am yesterday... may just be a hyperactive neighbor or abundance of caution type situation. If he planned this whole thing and DIDN'T plan an elaborate escape I am going to be surprised, although I suppose his hubris could've led him to believe he would just get away with it.

Joseph Pappas tried to sell his possessions day before doctor's deadly shooting
KPRC2 has uncovered documents that suggest he may not have had plans to come back to his home in Westbury.

On TheGreensheet.com, a website for buying and selling items, a number connected to Pappas shows 10 furniture items for sale. The items include a bedroom full of furniture for $5,000; a buffet china cabinet for $1,599, and an upholstered sofa for $1,450.

Greensheet confirms the ads were placed on July 19, one day before authorities said Pappas killed Hausknecht.

It doesn't sound like he believed he was going to get away with it. He was selling various items and he transferred the deed to his house to somebody in Ohio. Seems pretty clear he believed he wasn't going to be able to continue living the way he was.

His long time friend said he had a hit list, and Dr. H may be at the top of the list. He was bullied in high school (was called "Greek shrimp") and talked about one day those who bullied him would meet a day of reckoning:

The former friend says he believes Pappas is hunting his next victim or victims.
“If there’s a bully he had in high school I would tell that person to take an unplanned vacation to Alaska,” the friend said.

The on-going search of Pappas' home appears to be on request of neighbors who are concerned about safety. Police has now confirmed he is not in the house.

Someone who knew Pappas for 20 years said he was a high expert in all facets of firearms. 3 months ago when he met Pappas, he could tell Pappas was depressed, for unknown reason.

All clear given after SWAT enters Westbury home of Joseph Pappas

“I called him on the 24th and he said he had a terminal illness, and that’s why he deeded (me) the house,”
That explains everything. Just as I thought--why revenge now.

I guess his doctor who diagnosed his terminal illness will be interviewed by police.

All the more likely he won't be found alive.
I don't think he has a terminal illness. I think that was just an excuse to explain to this woman why he would transfer the deed of the house to her.

Despite what he told the woman in OH, I don't think he has a terminal condition or illness. He had to give this woman a reason why he is leaving his house to her. What was he going to say? He was described as being in great shape, which I think is the truth.

Re terminal illness: But it would seem logical to seek revenge over the doctor and high school bullies not sooner and not later, but now, and seemingly with little effort or desire to continue hiding and living after this.

He had been depressed recently, according to a friend, for what reason? It would be interesting to find out.

Anything is possible, but he also had a good reason to lie to the woman about having a terminal illness because he had to provide an explanation why he left her his house. This woman isn't related to him and he actually has relatives he could have left the house to (one of the articles mentioned he had a sister).
His friend thinks he has a hit list of other targets who he believes wronged him going all the way back to his high school days. So he is hiding unless he actually did kill himself ( which I don't believe). Presumably so he could go after his other targets?
